I think it has to do with estrogen dominance. Look up the sympthoms, they are mostly associated with male pattern baldness. The hormone imbalance might cause a lot of damage to the body and most modern young men have low t and high estrogen compared to 50 years ago. Depression, hair loss and odd body fat distribution might be direct consequences.

Estrogen dominance is not a problem. If that were a case we would not have been finasteride or antiandrogens, rather we would be doing antiestrogens.

We don't know how the hormone balance works, estrongen dominance causes benign prostate hyperplasia (bhp), which finasteride and dutasteride were originally designed for.

So if someone keeps his hormones in balance he would never experience hairloss? That's what you are saying?

That's possible. Also, keeping hormones in check becomes harder as we age, and the percentage of people experiencing noticeable hair loss increases by 10% with every 10 years of age as we all know. Your male hormone levels peak during your puberty and teenage years, then plummet in your 30's and 40's. Enviromental factors, diet and lifestyle greatly impact your hormonal balance and depending on the individual, you can experience hair loss, gynecomastia, metabolic dysfunction, depression, type 2 diabetes and other conditions associated with estrogen dominance. I wish researchers could look into this.

Aromataze converts testosterone into estrogen .so aromataze inhibition should work for hairloss. Have you seen any studies about aromataze inhibition and hair growth?

i have seen so many discussion here with some studies about aromatase inhibition. Women who take aromatase inhibitors for breast cancer etc. have experienced typical male pattern baldness like receiding hairline. So its definitely not a good thing to do.

We should aim to naturally re-establish the hormone balance through diet, exercise and lifestyle improvement. Taking in hormones is dangerous and detrimental to out goal, since the body will just react by releasing more of the opposing hormone. My suggestion is, get your hormone levels checked (thyroid, androgens, estrogens, what have you), do your best to restore the balance and only resort to hormone therapy in extreme cases, and dermaroll/stamp to regenerate the decayed tissue. Also check for any vitamin/nutrient deficiency, make sure you get enough sunlight and everything, and avoid high stress levels. That's the most reasonable thing to do about your hair loss IMO. Meanwhile, if you want finasteride to keep your hair short-term and taper it off once you seem to be going back to normal. Minoxidil is a growth booster but it won't work long term, the baldness will catch up to you.
