Hi,

I've been shedding/thinning pretty heavily for the past 1.5 years or so. Never really realized that you could do much about hair loss until I ran across this board.

I've spent a few hours reading through some threads but I still haven't been able to put together much of a plan of action so any help to point me in the right direction would be great.

With some of the pictures and suggestions that I've seen of what people should do at different stages of loss, I'm guessing that I should probably be on Finasteride and Minoxidil but I really don't know.

Even just suggestions of some good threads to read would be really helpful.

Thank you for reading!

I am not really noticing anything? Your crown looks fine and hairline as well.

I would say you are trolling but you seem to have a decent amount of likes and no dislikes. Perhaps you accidentally replied to the wrong thread? I have done that before. I cannot see how anyone could possibly see that hairline as fine. Very obvious zones of thinning.

OP all you can do is take finasteride. Nothing will help you at this point other than some kind of AA.

I appreciate the replies! Thank you.

As far as I understand it, the big 3 is Finasteride, Minoxidil 5% and Nizoral Shampoo, correct?

Is there a board recommended service like Hims to get the Finasteride prescription through?

Thank you for the suggestion. Are you basically saying that it's bad enough to where adding Nizoral and Minoxidil on top of Finasteride wouldn't provide much for additional returns?

It's the standard go to. Little spin on it I picked up from the German forums, use Nizral 2% cream instead of the shampoo.

I would say you've got a textbook case, not bad but not good either. Big three should do you well, if you get sides or disatisfactory results then you can start looking at the more exotic options on offer here at HairLossTalk.com.

Ok, that's good to know. Thank you!

I'll keep reading around and chime in back here if I have some dosage and timing questions.

Oh nah not saying that, people get great regrowth on minoxidil alone however without finasteride it is short-lived. nizoral doesn't really do anything IMO its more about overall scalp health which allows minoxidil to work more effectively (theoretically, I still think nizoral is practically useless if you don't have any scalp conditions)

I would just use finasteride for a year first. Then decide whether or not you want to add minoxidil.

I hear the german forums mentioned often in relation to Ketoconazole Cream, is there a specific thread you can link from over there, I'd be interested in seeing peoples results.

Not really that I can think of, I just see it in people's routines all the time. I'll look and see if I can find anything. Sprichst du Deutsch BetaBoy

I've been on Finasteride for about 70 days now. The shedding seemed to start slowing down a few weeks ago but my scalp was getting quite itchy (still fairly itchy) so I started Nizoral.

The Nizoral seems to help a little bit but has seemingly increased my shedding some back closer to what it was. I'm assuming this is probably just due to the extra friction of washing my hair twice (once with Nizoral and then again with normal shampoo).

I've held off on the Minoxidil according to Derelicts suggestion but the recession is getting bad enough that I think I should probably start. I am wondering though if the Finasteride can't seem to hold onto my existing hair, is it worth it to start on the Minoxidil? Is there a period of time that I should give the Finasteride to ensure that it's holding onto the hair before I start the Minoxidil?
