Even if testosterone levels decline, which they eventually do, it doesn't matter because it doesn't take much testosterone to make DHT. As one gets older their hair loss problem gets worse as well. Thats one problem. Then of course other stuff like the immune system and other stuff like hormones(growth hormone, IGF-1, etc.) also go through a bit of a change too. That coupled with DHT makes everything worse. :hairy: :hairy:

how long u reckon this takes to happen? so basically ur saying everyone with male pattern baldness will have to go bald in the end.. how do u think it affects younger guys? also, whats the longest someone has ever been on (a) propecia/proscar or (b) propecia/proscar + minoxidil and retained their hair?
How long does it take to happen? No clue . Everyone with male pattern baldness will go bald in the end? Not necesserely. I would say if one is to find a good hair regimine and it works for them then cool, stick with it. If the effects of the treatment start to diminish, then one might need to move up to something more potent and just get extremely picky when it comes to hair. A lot of TLC. The older one gets the harder it will be to control the hairloss, but I think it can be done. What is the longest one has been on propecia/proscar or propecia/proscar and minoxidil combo and retained their hair? Well I've heard of quite a few who have done very well for many years. It might last a very long time. It just depends on how disciplined one is when it comes to hair treatment. You have to stick to it. Simple concept. Doesn't get any easier than that. If something starts to fail then you have to fix it. Look for something better and more potent. And yes I am a very firm believer in diet. You are what you eat. Even diet can effect DHT and hairloss. I am getting fantastic results with my hair. I'm currently using Dr. Lee's treatments and following a sound diet that is good for my hair. I'm not on finasteride either. I won't use that unless I have to. Basically if my regimine starts to fail me then I'll add finasteride to it. Besides by the time if everybody on treatment is starting to go extremely bald surely there will be very effective treatments out by then. Hopefully. I think that the future holds good things. We just have to be patient and watch I guess.youngguy_uk said:kalika said:I think that 5-alpha reductace is supposed to gradually climb as one gets older.
