I started taking finasteride about 3 months ago the the right temple has definitely gotten a little worse so not sure if that's good or bad. My recession has been very slow and it seemed to thin as fast as I've seen since being on finasteride

My hairline is very very similar. I also have similar straight hair. Curly headed men seem to have a leg up on covering temples whereas mine (and it looks like yours as well) hair grows straight forward. It's hard to sweep to one side without exposing the other temple worse.

With all of that said, your forelock is still pretty wide, which by the norwood scale isn't always the case and it still looks pretty good imo. I've been on finasteride for about 15 months and maintained pretty well. I think you are doing the right thing, just keep on the path.

Best of luck to you

Thanks chevyman..and you are 100 on point with the straight hair. If I grow my hair out longer it's pretty easy for me to sweep my hair to the right and cover up my more recessed temple and essentially look like I'm not balding..its impossible now with how short my hair. I just decided to go really short after starting finasteride to see more clearly where I was at. Definitely going to let it grow out and stay on pills.

retrograde alopecia refers to thinning on the sides of the head. cosmetically this makes little difference but means you are a bad hair transplant candidate

He is not thinning on the sides lol. It's a fade by his barber which goes down as it heads towards the back. Quite common around here and looks smart. People here have long/medium hair on top with that fade. A miniaturisation bulk test would be best though to confirm the region is okay.

This is classical retrograde. The give away is the soft fuzzy appearance of the sides, hair not erect and sharp looking. They can't have a hair transplant and finasteride doesn't work as well for some reason either.

I have the same. This is hair loss around the ears and nape. It is a form of retrograde alopecia. When you look at nw7's you can see that they also have very thin hair at their sides. That is because that part is apparently also not dht resistance.

Anyway it never got worse for me so it seems to only affect the hair around the ears and nape. But I don't know if it would get worse without finasteride since I am taking finasteride and it stayed the same during the use of it.
