I am 42 years old and am considering a hair transplant as you can see my recession throughout the years enlarged my forehead. I just buzzed my head, and will be meeting with a hair transplant doctor this week to see what he says. About 8 years ago, I was turned away by another physician who I saw for the same problem. I would like to lower my hairline and do some temple work. At age 42 though, I know I should be happy to have made it this far with the hair I have. Maybe its all in my head. What do you think?

no, it's not. it's pretty much classic nw2. at 42, that kind of hairline is appropriate.

You have the most perfectly symetrical receaded hairline ive EVER seen. Almost looks laser sculpted. I agree with the others, if you grew your hair out you would barely notice it. I think you hair is great for a 42 year old.

I think you're well beyond a 2, more like a 3 or 3.5 with thinning all over the top in a Norwood 4-5 pattern. My hairline is better than that and I'm not even a 2. Do you shave the front to make it symmetrical? It looks like I see stubble in the front. It definitely looks good for 42 years old, but in my opinion, not as good as these guys are making it out to be. If you're going the transplant route, you should get on finasteride if you're not already, to maintain what you have up there.

Wrong. Check the norwood scale and compare, pretty obvious tbh..

"good"? I don't understand why people are so interested in what Norwood they are. What does it matter if you're 2 or 3 or 5? You're either happy with your hair or you're not. It's utterly meaningless.

It's not like the Norwood chart officially states that NW2 is good, while NW3+ is bad, is it?

Yeah, like that crudely drawn Norwood scale accurately represents everyone's situation. The guy clearly has more than Norwood 2 recession, as I pointed out, he shaves the front so it doesn't look as obvious....if he's a 2 then I'm a Norwood 1 and that certainly isn't the case.

Accurate enough for you to make a confident assertion though eh? That doesn't make any sense. If it's so crudely drawn - how can you be so sure which he is?

You're saying he's closer to (or over) a crudely drawn NW3 than the crudely drawn NW2.

I say that's not the case, as I have, you know - eyes.

he's a 3 or worse. He's missing all the hair on the side of his head above the sideburns. The front is shaved to make the corner recession less obvious. I bet if he posted a pic from 10 years ago you would realize how he's not a Norwood 2 which would be indicative of a mature hairline. Try comparing his pics to others here who were rated a Norwood 2....there's a huge difference. Anyway, let's get some more opinions on this. There are already 2 besides myself on this thread who disagree with you, why don't you harass them a bit? The guy asked for opinions, I gave mine...if you disagree with it, that's fine with me. There is certainly no need to make an issue of it, and certainly no need for childish comments.

I think he's closer to a 2 than a 3. As for overall thinning, you're on crack.

The guys is diffuse all over the top of his head. Maybe it's the light, but tell me you truly do not see the horshoe pattern.

Because you came across as being a little arrogant and obnoxious. And if you call having your opinions challenged "harassment" then best keep them to yourself in future.

I'm not sure how my very first post in this thread came across as arrogant or obnoxious as it was an expression of my opinion to his question. If it did, I apologize to whoever thought that. However, your posts all came across as childish, immediately stating that my opinion was flat out wrong, and resorted to snide little remarks after I defended my opinion. Grow up.
