hii I'm 20 and started getting a receding hairline at 18, It acted like male pattern baldness until about 5 months ago where my hair on the sides and back started going as well. Ive been on proscar for about 5 months and havent seen any results. Both my grandparents had a fullset of hair, but my dad had a receding hairline but now he has more hair then I do..oh and I had a hairtransplant about a year ago to fill in the receding part.

just wondering, any idea what this is?

any help will be appreciated..

Alopecia Areata can be found in both the spotty type of hair loss that is normally described and also as Diffuse Alopecia where you thin out not only in the male pattern baldness areas such as the temples and crown but also the sides and back. The cause is often times related to an immune system irregularity and the loss can be somewhat reversed or at least stopped once you've fixed the irregularity. From the picks it additionally looks like you might be pretty light on facial hair and hair on the ends of your eyebrows. Those two factors combined with your diffuse scalp hair loss definitely means you should consider talking to a doctor and mentioning not only your hair loss but every single other thing that you think might be off in your body no matter how big or small, you never know what could be important.

Yeah My facial hair is really patchy and isnt full at all, and the eyes brows didnt notice until now aha. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow so I'll update you guys on what she says. I never would have thought to bring those points up so thanks a lot, I'll for sure tell her (and that actually explains a lot of why ive never been able to have 'normal' facial hair).
