What do you suggest for an NW2 in this situation?

I have taken Propecia for near 4 years and have maintained pretty well, although am still gradually receding and diffuse thinning. I am about to begin using nizoral and possibly minoxidil because I am tired of having to cover it up and avoid swimming pools and also want to help fight it even more. I am strongly considering getting some hair transplanted to the front so it is out of my everyday worry and off my mind (at least for a while). I will try to post pics as soon as I get a camera, but I would say I am a pretty solid 2 with the beginnings of very, very minimal crown opening which I am very confident minoxidil and nizoral will reverse.

I'm sure it will, if you are still a pretty solid NW2 stay away from transplants.

Because NW2's, IMO should not get transplant for the following reasons,

A - Future balding, you may continue to lose hair, then your committed to getting more transplants.

B - H/T's are great but they are a big commitment, they take time and cost a lot of money.

C - If you have a lot of hair and get transplants in or around your existing hair you could get shock loss, making your situation worse.

A NW2 is NOT bald, or anywhere near bald, it would be a waste of time and money getting one until you really need it.

It seems to me that you have a good head of hair, but are very critical of it...and if you are a solid NW2, then some of the best hair transplant docs will tell you to come back in a few years anyway.

Not to mention the number of hacks out there that could leave you butchered and looking a lot worse.

Post your pics when you get chance and i'll take a look

Nice, appreciate the heads up...that makes good sense. The problem I have with my current status is I can't really go out when it's windy, because I have to wear my hair long to cover it up and it blows it over and it looks terribly obvious. I can't cut it short because it shows too much.... I have good hair but it's pretty straight so I don't have alot of styling options, as well as that many people tell me it looks so much better long.

I agree with Petchsky. Even though I am at the age where it is safe to have a hair transplant, I was told not to get even a small hair transplant because I only have slight loss down the middle( not yet a solid NW2). I too wanted to get this transplant so I would stop focusing on my hair all the time. However, I was advised by the doctor to wait to see if it gets worse. I am glad I did because I went back on minoxidil and restyled my hair a new way and things seem to look better. I think minoxidil is thickening up things again for me as my hair stylist says my hair seems thicker. So far I not seen a drastic shed on it too. I would definitely try minoxidil at this point to see if you can thicken up some areas. If you are a NW2 still, you should respond pretty good with the big 3. After reading about some of these disappointed people with their hair transplants even with some of the best doctors has put " a damper on my parade". I am going to hold off as long as I can before I get one now. However, its nice to know my "worse case scenario" is a hair transplant if my hair loss takes a drastic turn for the worse.
