I have started and stopped twice due to side effects. I have just recently started again. I will let you know. Thanks for the info. has the medication helped you at all?
One of four things will happen.
1. You will regrow some.
2. You will maintain.
3. You will continue to lose hair slower than before.
4. You will continue to lose hair faster than before.
The most likely scenarios are 2 and 3. 1 and 4 are the less likely but do happen.
4. Worries me AF
Yes its very scary when it happens, almost unbelievable. although I'm hopeful with my current regimen I can at least maintain what I have left eventually. Itch is less and shedding is overall a bit less than it was before I started. I'll share a couple of pics with you that are two weeks apart from when I was on only propecia. The one with the worse recession was at a month and a half into treatment. Scary how fast my hair was going then..4. Worries me AF
Worries me too. I want to take it but I want to be able to stop if needed. It seems the best things to do are 1) start with .25-.5mg Ed, going up is better than going down, 2) use BRAND NAME Propecia. The FDA studies have the issues that seem common as rare and it may be due to so many taking generics.
Generic is equal to propecia. Same as I buy 99p vitamins rather than spend £40 on them from Holland and Barrett.
Literally no (or very little) difference.
That is a common misconception. Read my above experience with generic vs brand Wellbutrin.
I've seen too many success stories of people on generic finasteride to be swayed by your bad experiences with an antidepressant. That is a common misconception. Read my above experience with generic vs brand Wellbutrin.

Obviously, it goes without saying, only buy from a reputable pharms company (accord, actavis) and a trusted country (e.g. not India).
Yea, I use UK Meds. Could probably find it cheaper elsewhere, but like I said, at least it's trusted.Examples of trusted companies? Evopharmacy and ukmeds are one of the trusted ones?
What about Propecia vs proscar or finpecia

Me saying "I've seen too many success stories" proves that if you're smart and you buy from a trusted company, then generics are fine.I think some generics are awful and don't work well and some are fine. The best is to go with what was studied for hair loss as the formulation is the same. I have Propecia for 90$ for 28 days. Which is definitely expensive but if I use .5mg it is less so.
I just see SO MANY people saying they get horrible side effects, hair loss flares, etc. and the studies did not have this.
I never said all generics are bad therefore you saying you have seen 'too many success stories' does not prove anything. Many people find benefit with generic Wellbutrin but it is also known that with the brand name it works better and the sides are mitigated. The generic did not have years of study while the brand did and the delivery mechanisms could play big roles for a lot of drugs which differ amongst classes.
A lot of people seem to complain of a lot of side effects specifcally that Finasteride is making their hair WORSE over months of taking it. This is odd since the studies for approval did not have this occurrence in a large number which means, 1) it is in people's heads, 2) there is something wrong with a lot of the generics. My guess is it may be a little bit of both but certainly we cannot discount everyone's experiences.
Also not ALL generics are created equally. Some are great and even better than the brand. The fillers that are used seem to really influence a lot in terms of side effects and effectiveness.

The study on propecia is sketchy AF, so I don't know why you hold that in such high regard. The results are so vague that it's impossible to draw valid conclusions. You're better off doing a meta analysis of the forum's results - which I have - and I've seen many success stories on generics.
We're not talking about side effects broadly, we're talking specifically about hairloss. Propecia's active ingredient is finasteride, which is what will cause the shedding. If you're losing hair that means the pill you're taking is legit. Poorly made generics, in theory should make no difference to your hair whether good or bad. Also, I highly doubt inactive bulking agents are the reason for hairloss.
It is what it is. If you want to pay x5 for propecia just to be on the extra safe side, then go for it.
