it was mostly my fault, but i do not like people who are poorly informed demanding me to do something,if this was alvi armani i would have listened

I love how Drs with Medical degrees are so poorly informed...whereas you are so informed of potent medicines via Hairloss Forums! That's awesome.

Doctors are for hte most part far more intterested in making sure you dont have any life threatening conditions. hair loss is way way down on the priority list so they spend their time keeping up to date on more important medical conditions. i think you'd agree this is probably the best course of action for them yes?

so if we accept the above, then its highly likely that someone who has read this forum indepth will have more hair loss knowledge than the average family doctor. i'm definately not one of the most well informed members of this site but i can say without a doubt i know more about hair loss than every doctor/dermatologist i have ever been in contact with.

I definately agree. And in this case, the Dr is asking patient to discontinue the medication that is primarily for prostate yet being taken for hairloss. Dr believes its correlated to his poor medical condition than I value his assesment over the forum.

Yes, info on this board is probably more than that of the avg GP. However, the side effects of all the medications are probably more indepth than the board is readily to accept.

Ok. Everyone here knows what i do in life. Maybe i pissed off.

Sorry.

nothing wrong with working in a dinner shop IBM, just as long as you have some plan for doing something with more room for growth later on. funny thing about you IBM is that if you actually said outloud in real life what is going on in your head, but said it in a self deprecating voice followed by a smile and a laugh as if you didnt really care, you'd have ladies falling all over you.

I did not understand what you mean.

You said:

What do you mean by that? Working in dinner shops is a career pitfall?

"what is going on in your head, but said it in a self deprecating voice followed by a smile and a laugh as if you didnt really care, you'd have ladies falling all over you"

Could you rephrase that please....

unless you want to own and run a dinner shop in the future then yes it is a career pitfall. unless maybe you intend to design dinner shop equipment or dinner shop software to sell to the dinner shop industry.

as to the second part, not sure how i can rephrase it. many girls love self deprecating humour. ie/ someone who makes fun of himself in a lighthearted manner. a lot of the things you say could be seen in such a manner if you simply acted light hearted (humourously uncaring) about it all.

Antonio, i still don´t understand that. Why exactly did he tell you to get off dutasteride? Is he one of these guys believing that Avodart/Propecia are bad for your health, yet wouldn´t be concerned if their patient is fat eating at McDonalds all day?

Though i'm very depressive guy with lots of issues i'm the kind of human that you describe. Saying things in self deprecating humour with laugh and funny. And yet it didnt atract many women though i've been hidden from people all my life.

As a Dr he has to tell you to stop taking any medication for something other than what it is intended for. He's just covering his own ***. And yes most Drs view m.p.b in the same way that they view getting grey hairs or wrinkles ie its irrelevant.

I can answer on my behalf. No I don't worship satan, but I don't worship god either. They're both as bad as each other. Fictionary characters.

because i pay for health insurance,i have to have a medical every 6 months and i had it this morning, guess what he says my blood pressure is sky high for someone of 27 and that he would not cover me to drive hgv's
anymore ,this is currently not a problem as i havent drove hgv's for over 4 years but thats now a nother area of my life f*****,he also wanted me to take tablets for the blood pressure,i agreed, but then asked if there were any side affects,he said sometimes they can cause hairloss,
i said if i was at deaths door i would not take anything that might cause hairloss, then he said you are joking are'nt you,i said no i am not ,i then told him i was taking hairloss tablets in the form of avodart,he ordererd me to stop taking them straight away, cut a long story short,i nearly came to blows with this dr presani, and was escorted of the premises.

i must admit i lost the plot but it is liberating in a way because the nasty side in my character is now out and nobody will ever tell me or order me to anything again

go to http://www.lef.org and see what they suggest for high blood pressure. Do you eat mostly TV food or fast food or canned food? You got to really check your salt levels, and exercise. Also if you got insurance, you should have had your blood vessels scanned to see how much plaque is on them, or if they are calcified. If they are, you need to take vitamin K pills and anti-oxidants like pomegranate juice daily to remove that stuff.

Hi let me just say i've recently completed my medical degree and am now also a qualified doctor, and the people here who say that most docs don't know about hair loss are semi-right; at least with regard to male pattern hair loss. They teach u about hair loss in med school when it relates to systemic illness (thyroid disease, lupus, alopecia areata and so on) but male pattern baldness is overlooked as an irrelevance with a cursory reference in most dermatology textbooks to minoxidil as a treatment.

However, you shouldn't get into an argument and say that doctors know nothing etc just because they don't know about male pattern hair loss..! They don't spend 100s of thousands of pounds training each medical student to be a complete dumbass at the end of it. It's just that dealing with hair loss etc is quite a specialised field, although it is something that GPs should know about in my opinion because of it's psychological implications, and if I ever go down the GP route I'll make sure I'm aware of the little cosmetic problems that cause people great psychological discomfort and take them seriously. It does sound Antonio as if your GP maybe didn't take the problem seriously, which I understand can be annoying. Even something as minor as a little scar or a spot can be upsetting to people, let alone diffuse hair loss, so try and explain this to the doctor. All we ever get taught in med school to be honest now (at least in my liberal PC medical school) is thatthe most important thing is to assess "the impact of the problem on the patient's life", which in your case sounds quite major.

Antonio you are not doing everything for hairloss. Oral minoxidil, oral spironolactone; oral cyclosporin; topical dht blocker; laser comb?

Oral spironolactone would probably be more problematic that cyclosporin. As long as your liver is checked regularly it's fine to take. In fact kidney transplant patients and psoriasis sufferers can be on the drug for well over two years.
