Wellbutrin/Bupropion

I am considering going on an antidepressant, but it is amazing how we always have to chose between our hair and our penis... jeez.. I mean I take stomach pain, back pain, dizziness, all that, but why hair vs ED!

I am rambling because the above drug sounds perfect, does not cause sexual side effects, in fact somehow it helps on that front, BUT thinning hair seems to be a side effect.

But I have seen a lot of girls complain about this rather than guys. So I am wondering if anyone has experiences to share here...

I ask here because I assume some of you deal with depression, and all of you share my concern about losing more hair/thinnning

Hi Way, I take it you have explored other possible alternatives or strategies to manage your depression. I realize it's hard to isolate the reason(s) you are feeling depressed much like the circumlocutionary chicken/egg debate. Have you had a comprehensive physical exam to rule out potential underlying problem(s)? Whatever your case may be you deserve much credit for doing something about it in the first place. I don't believe this is necessarily a situation for you where you have to choose a 'lesser evil" to achieve optimum health. From your communication thread I don't get a sense you are desperate which is a blessing. Just that you want to feel better. You made a brief reference to other physical ailments: If I may be bold enough to ask what other medicine are you currently prescribed or taking? Thanx for sharing.

Walker, thanks for your thoughts. It was my GP who keeps pushing me into talking with a shrink. I have a condition that does not have a cure, but all agree that anxiety and low mood make it worse. I am not that young, so no worries, not rushing into something, have given it some thought.

The Wellburtin is the one with no sexual sides, so I like the sound of it, but some say their hair thinned on it...

Hope someone with some experience can shed light on the issues.
