Hey,

I have very thin hair at the sides and back of my head and I am struggling to come up with a style that works well.

any advice please on how I can style my hair / hair system in order to make it look reasonable?

Thanks

Attach photos if you can, to give us a better idea.

You can try using Dermmatch to thicken the look of your bio hair.

Or go for an undercut style.

Yeah I have tried dermatch - it works well but it’s just extra maintenance having to apply it and making sure it looks right etc

And the problem with a light density unit is it won’t last very long as it’ll just shed and become too thin

No I’m not - he’s a very good hair system YouTuber though! And I believe he’s also had the same issues with thin bio hair

Yes it will last long like average 6 months. Only crap hair systems shed easily.

Yea he's a good one and I like his hair style, undercut type thing.

There is a Youtuber guy named danny evs who does a high and tight as well that to me looks awesome. He looks like david Beckham. His style doesn't require much or thick bio hair

Where do you get your systems from? I got mine from Lavivid and after 3 months the lace front has really thinned out to the point i can no longer expose the hair line.
Wow, that is disappointing to hear. I have a Lavivid lace, wearing for about a month.
Why do you suppose this has happened to your front? Is there any way to prevent this or is it just quality related?

You need to get the density that matches your hair, otherwise, it will look silly. Nothing is more obvious than someone wearing a system that is way too dense (unless it's the wrong color).

A well-made system won't shed very much, it pays to spend money on a quality system that lasts longer, then getting something way too dense, and then wearing it until it falls apart.

Are you wearing a full lace?

I'm not sure to be honest - I go to a hair salon for maintenance once a month and I think they are really rough with the unit and perhaps that is a factor in why it has shedded so quick. But not really sure how to prevent shedding

If going for an undercut look with sides and back shaved or very short then am I correct in assuming that density of hair system is not relevant? Because there will be little to no hair on sides and back for it to look like a big difference in hair density.

Any advice on where to get quality systems from? My current one is from lavivid.

That and those salons charge a rip off. Unless you want a really good fade cut-in of the donor hair once every 6-8 weeks, I wouldn't bother with hair replacement salons otherwise.

You can easily do the maintenance yourself at home.

Various guides and youtubers you can learn off.
MG Ford(Mike Ford) and Phil Osmond(Hair4all) has very useful install and removal/clean up videos, and how to cut the hair too.
I use clippers guard no 7, no 5 up to the middle and no 3 up to top of ear height for cutting the donor hair for a system to blend in. That was learnt from Phil Osmond's videos.

You need a dummy head to help you with attachment and clean up. Much easier to apply and remove tapes on that than in your hands.
C22 Solvent, paper towels and cotton wool for cleanup.
Sulphate free shampoo and sulphate free colour safe conditioner. A suitable wide tooth brush.
Lace Release spray and/or dab on for removal.
Scalp protector, leave in conditioner and suitable tapes and glues.
Patch test them each for 24 hours on your arm with a plaster over them to rule out allergic reactions.

An eye pencil and your template to mark where you will position the hair system on your head.

Hair drier and styling spray, product maybe too(hair wax).

Probably other things I forgot too.

It's totally relevant since you need to get something that matches your age, but yes, less critical if there is no blend. Don't be tempted to go medium or heavier... it can look wiggy.

Even my hair system at medium light density(100%) looks a little dense.
I can't wait to get a light density(80%) and full lace base.

Would a skin fade work well with thin bio hair? Or would it just be better to shave the sides and back completely
