Don't shave the back and sides completely. As it will look fake with a hair system.Would a skin fade work well with thin bio hair? Or would it just be better to shave the sides and back completely

i thought that's what an undercut was though - sides and back shaved?Don't shave the back and sides completely. As it will look fake with a hair system.
I'm wearing the Ares, lace with poly sides and back. Are you wearing a full lace?
I'm not sure to be honest - I go to a hair salon for maintenance once a month and I think they are really rough with the unit and perhaps that is a factor in why it has shedded so quick. But not really sure how to prevent shedding

Not true, depends on style.Don't shave the back and sides completely. As it will look fake with a hair system.
They are quite cheap and are quite useful. I got mine on AliExpress, you can get one that clamps to a tabletop, or one that stands on a tripod. They even come with pins.Is a mannequin head absolutely necessary for maintenance, or can u do the job without it?
But then you will see where it starts(the join whether its a thin skin edge or lace) without donor hair. Not true, depends on style.
I'm also wearing the Ares - it's been 3 months now and the front hairline has really thinned out - the rest of the system is okay so I can go away with it for now by not exposing the hairline. But bit disappointed as I was hoping to get at least 4-6 months out of it.I'm wearing the Ares, lace with poly sides and back.
Yea that's one thing I hate about using a salon for maintenance, u cant really control things like how they handle your system.
I wana start doing my own maintenance from home but still unsure of my "abilities" to do so.
I need to watch some YouTube videos.
I agree with u about the density issue, I'd rather have a bit higher density for longevity
I've now attached images - any advice would be appreciatedAttach photos if you can, to give us a better idea.
You can try using Dermmatch to thicken the look of your bio hair.
Or go for an undercut style.
And grow the sides/back out to blend in better.Hey,
I have very thin hair at the sides and back of my head and I am struggling to come up with a style that works well.
any advice please on how I can style my hair / hair system in order to make it look reasonable?
Thanks
Yeah I know what you mean. I think i'm gonna go for a high skin fade with a low density unit and see how it looks.Whatever your bio hair's length is, is wrong.
If you want to fully shave it and do an "extreme" undercut you can. I don't know how well it'd look buzzed, and I don't if it'd look better if your bio hair was longer.
Probably your best best, given the piece, you're wearing is to fade the bio hair down?
Of course, you can go lower density on your piece as suggested. Let us know how it goes. This seems to be an issue among a lot of people and point of interest.
That and those salons charge a rip off. Unless you want a really good fade cut-in of the donor hair once every 6-8 weeks, I wouldn't bother with hair replacement salons otherwise.
You can easily do the maintenance yourself at home.
Various guides and youtubers you can learn off.
MG Ford(Mike Ford) and Phil Osmond(Hair4all) has very useful install and removal/clean up videos, and how to cut the hair too.
I use clippers guard no 7, no 5 up to the middle and no 3 up to top of ear height for cutting the donor hair for a system to blend in. That was learnt from Phil Osmond's videos.
You need a dummy head to help you with attachment and clean up. Much easier to apply and remove tapes on that than in your hands.
C22 Solvent, paper towels and cotton wool for cleanup.
Sulphate free shampoo and sulphate free colour safe conditioner. A suitable wide tooth brush.
Lace Release spray and/or dab on for removal.
Scalp protector, leave in conditioner and suitable tapes and glues.
Patch test them each for 24 hours on your arm with a plaster over them to rule out allergic reactions.
An eye pencil and your template to mark where you will position the hair system on your head.
Hair drier and styling spray, product maybe too(hair wax).
Probably other things I forgot too.
Lace release is better for getting the hair system off your head. But C22 will work too.Can you use C22 for removal rather than use Lace Release? I tried using Lace Release but have to spray so much of it to work. Just got C22 and was going to use that for removal and to clean.
