Well i am trying to understand why i am losing hair at 24 and who I got it from. My question is it possible to tell if you inherited the balding gene from the person you might of inherited the acne gene? When I was a teenager I had bad acne, sometimes even cyst on my back. I had to go on accutane at 15 and that cleared it up for a while. My dad never had that bad of acne to speak of, mom neither. My uncle on the other hand, i was told had severe acne. I say i was told because I see no scars from it. My grandma tells me he had it worse than me. Well he started losing his hair young and now at 55 he is maybe a Norwood 4 or 5. I know that acne is all tied to DHT but is their anyway to tell if you can get the acne gene and balding gene from the same person. The only other person who got bad acne was my Aunt and she went on accutane also it was so bad.

Also does similar hair color play a role in hair loss gene? I have brown/auburn (hint of red) hair and my dad has black.

As far as we know hairloss genes are not necessarily related to hair color, type, acne, or anything like that. It might be related, but not necessarily. Both your parents could have had full heads of blonde straight hair and you wind up with dark brown afro and it wouldn't matter.

Acne isn't necessarily related to DHT. There are too many different causes of acne to say it is triggered by any one thing. If you've ever read acne forums (I never really had bad acne but I've glanced over at them before) some people clear theirs up by drinking extra water and washing their face twice a day, while others have to resort to medicines like accutane to even begin to treat theirs.

yeah that was kind of like my acne. I drank water all day every day and took care of my skin extra well and still had to take accutane. Its just frustrating understanding why me and why this early i guess. People say I look good with a shaved head but I dont know about a bald head.

There are a few different genes responsible for hair appearance (color/shape etc), these aren't related to hair loss genes.
Acne is most often times related to your diet. Just like with hair loss however, multiple genes can be related to acne development/duration/severity. Some of these acne causing genes are also hair loss causing genes but it's impossible to tell for your specific case unless you have your full genome mapped.
