I will post the pictures later today when I get home from work, granted I can pull them from that temporary phone i was using. (And for those busting me about using a flip phone, it was a temporary phone since my smartphone died :):) you guys are something)

Im interested in Finasteride but terrified of side effects. My friend said the side effects are rare and in a small % of people but it seems so common it has me worried.

I just want to say I knew people that tried minoxidil and for a while early on they had a lot of hair back. Later on huge shed. Then pretty much all the hair was gone, and they were back to where they started.
Dont count your chickens before they hatch, because its a life long game we play. You might win for 2 months, but there is no written promise that month 6 all that hair is gone. minoxidil can regrow hair really well in some people, but male pattern baldness can still progress.
I would get on finasteride and see if it can help you keep some of that. I dont think male pattern baldness is winnable without finasteride. minoxidil doesnt stop or change male pattern baldness it simply regrows hair through god knows what mechanisms.

So I will get to the title of this in a moment. I'll explain my story quick. Male here.

I always had super thick wavy hair.. I also had a pretty high forehead.

My hair started thinning / receding when I was late 22 / almost 23. At first it wasn't too bad and I could get a decent fade / shape up and it looked good. I could even grow it out and gel it back or something.

As of recent (recently 26), it was getting to the point where I could no longer really even hide it with a haircut or a shape up. My barbers told me to basically shave it off and rock my beard with it since i have a good head shape for it (similar to Joe Rogan). (I also wear a beard 1 - 2 in length, pretty short). So I buzzed my head no guard, and used a head razor to get just about all the stubble off. (I was at around a 3V or IV on the Norwood chart)

I knew about Minoxidil and the treatments, but I never went that route because I actually enjoyed having a shaved head and it looks good. But I made the decision to get 5% liquid minoxidil to keep my beard thick and perfect forever. So I started to spray the stuff only on my beard.

Long story short, after only 1.5 months of using this minoxidil INCONSISTENTLY (often missing applications, some days only using once) in a spray bottle, AT LEAST 50% of my hair on my head has returned, MINIMUM. This is also after only using it on my face, never on my head. I also know my hair very well, and I am convinced the thickness is now near the same on the top as it is on the sides. I'm shocked and I can't explain this. (Now closer to a 2 on Norwood)

I am so convinced and the results are so dramatic, so quick, that I am now using a few sprayson my head for the heck of it but i'm still keeping my head shaved. I'm going to give it a year before trying to grow it out again, because I still don't mind having a shaved head.

The results are so impressive i'm also almost convinced if i combine with Finasteride I can get literally all of my hair back in time. But i'm terrified about the side effects.

My questions are:

1. How is this possible? The inconsistencies and not applying directly to my head almost makes this seem impossible so quick.

2. Are the Finasteride side effects something to worry about?

I have been taking finasteride for almost three months. I have noticed slight sides that seem to be diminishing. First three weeks hair stopped shedding altogether which was a precursor to an upcoming shed that lasted a few weeks before slowing close to normal. Used laser helmet 6 minutes three times a week to slow shed on top. Seems to work, as no noticeable loss on top. Small fine hairs cropping up in temple area and as best I can tell in every area I can get a good look at with an led flashlight I used to check results from day one. Definetly something happening I just hope the hairs darken over the next few months

minoxidil makes your hair dry, this gives illusion your have more hair.

Wow, nice bullshit. Minoxidil is not an unknown mechanism it's pretty obvious it increases blood flow and is a growth stimulator it's not some magic liquid. Second, minoxidil is not an illusion lol, dry hair doesn't make it seem like you have more hair trust me I have dry hair, minoxidil makes you hair look better cause you psychically have more hair...what is up with all this bullshit speculations on this forum. It takes 5 seconds to google and disprove your unintelligent remarks.

Of course he didn't, He either works for Johnson&Johnson or Merck.. Probably both.

The fact that you guys think that I would lie about this or that I work for somebody (despite the fact that I NEVER mentioned a brand) is comical.

I was able to transfer the pictures via Bluetooth and upload them.

Two things to keep in mind:

(1) The quality is a bit different as well as the lighting. With that being said, I can assure you with 100% confidence this is what my hair looked like under all conditions. Unfortunately it would be impossible for me to prove this to you since I don't have similar pictures under similar conditons, but you will have to take my word for it.

(2) This is not a minoxidil shed. The before pics were BEFORE I started using minoxidil on just my beard. Again, at this stage my hair was thinning and shedding so bad I finally said screw it and took it off with the head blade and ordered minoxidil for my beard.

(before the use of any minoxidil)

IMG_20181117_121656.jpg ( after around 1.5 months of minoxidil use on beard only. You can see clear growth on the crown and near the temple areas. I added derma rolling and regular minoxidil use since and my hair is actually restoring itself. I use a ketaconzole shampoo now as well. Again, I want to jump on finasteride because of the recovery my hair is making but I'm trying to get over the fear of side effects )

It does look like you have some regrowth.. Also I was joking about you working for those companies. The results are hardly unbelievable and pretty textbook but if you really were just applying on your face it is impressive how you managed to grow some hair on top too!

Not a drop of minoxidil was applied to my scalp in those pictures. Only my face for my beard! That's what I really found shocking and why I now started adding it to my scalp topically to gauge results. I added dermarolling and nizoral too because I was so impressed with the results and see potential.

I do disagree, I think the results are pretty darn impressive, especially for only applying to the beard. But to each their own.

To me, impressive results are going from noticeable balding ( like you are now ) to full coverage ( which you don't have ) stick with the treatments, I'd love to see where you're at in 6 months!
