Hi all,

I was wondering what everyones thoughts on Triple Hair's TH16 all "natural" solution is. I'm normally a big skeptic when it comes to "natural" solutions. Triple Hair also have another product named TH07 a topical finasteride + minoxidil + PGF2a analogue gearing up for Phase III clinical trials..

What's interesting to me is that they state that TH16 (https://triplehair.ca/products/therapy-16/) "outperformed minoxidil 5% in their Phase II clinical trials" and as someone who doesn't respond to minoxidil this intrigues me.

There are also before and after pictures on follicle thoughts article here: https://www.folliclethought.com/new-company-triple-hair-topical/

I'm a bit torn because i'm skeptical to "natural" solutions but also think would a company spend money on carrying out clinical trials unless they thought its a working product that will one day be profitable?

Any thoughts?

I wish they'd given specific numbers, rather than simply saying "dense," "moderate." That allows for shenanigans and the before after pics aren't exactly show stoppers.

They also say topical finasteride gives reduced systemic adverse events. Admittedly, I haven't researched that thoroughly, but according to one study I've seen, topical finasteride reduces serum DHT as much as oral.

They also compare TH07, which is a combo of minoxidil and finasteride and something else, with minoxidil and finasteride individually. Wouldn't it be more honest to compare it to a combo of the two. It ain't exactly a surprising result that m+f is gonna beat m and f individually.

After some googling, I believe the two ingredients in their topical TH16 is resveratrol and melatonin as per this patent: https://patents.google.com/patent/W...opical,loss prevention product is finasteride.

I also found an article about topical melatonin for hair loss: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3681103/

Regarding TH07 if anyone's interested I also found the TH07 patent: https://patents.google.com/patent/US20160346183?oq=triple+hair+inc it seems their PGF2a analogue is latanoprost.

TLDR:
TH16 = Resveratrol + Melatonin
TH07 = Finasteride + Minoxidil + Latanoprost

I also found an article about topical melatonin for hair loss: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3681103/

The studies that article mentions were industry funded, which doesn't mean they're illegitimate, but...

Assuming they WERE legit, it looks interesting. Would be great if there are independent studies on it, but I doubt there are.

UPDATE:

Also, studies #2 and #3 were open label and I can't make heads or tails of study #3.

First they say:

"The results of this study showed an increase in the hair count (number of hairs/0.7cm2) in 54.8% of participants after 3 and 6 months, respectively, and improved hair density (number of hairs/cm2) in 54.8% and 58.1% of participants after 3 and 6 months, respectively."

So they are measuring the number of hairs on an area of 0.7cm2 and then they are measuring the number of hairs on the slightly larger area of cm2. Wtf???

But anyway, so later they say:

"Objective assessment of treatment with the cosmetic melatonin solution by the medical investigator at each visit found improved hair loss in 26.6% (Day 30), 48.2% (Day 90) and 32.1% (Day 180) of patients, whereby the proportion of patients showing improvement was greatest after 90 days and even included a small group of patients with new hair growth."

They just said half the subjects improved their hair count, but now it's a small group of patients with new hair?? Wtf is going on here?

Study #4 is the real beauty, though. Among other things, they had hair stylist at hair salons doing assessments.

I extracted this paragraph from the patent:

"Preparation of Composition Comprising Resveratrol and Melatonin

The composition comprises 5% resveratrol and 0.1% melatonin as the active ingredients and propylene glycol and absolute ethyl alcohol as non-active ingredients. The alcohol also serves as the final preservative in the composition."

TH16 Patent: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2017004692A1/en#:~:text=The inventor has discovered that a composition for topical administration, loss and increasing hair regrowth.&text=Minoxidil is considered the topical, loss prevention product is finasteride.

So according to this we could mix up Ethyl, PG, 5% resveratrol and 0.1% melatonin to try this ourselves?

Does anyone know where we could source resveratrol and melatonin?

Would be nice if they had some photos to accompany the table so we could determine for ourselves what is Dense, Moderate, or Minimal. Still claiming EVERYBODY saw at least a tiny amount which is kind of significant.

Is there any documentation of somebody trying a regimen that includes both these ingredients? It doesn't seem like it would be hard for us to make at home

Companies that doesn't openly show their science, it just not worth it at any point.

And we have soon all the "super" lotions out there, with their "significant" increase/regrowth, and they put in a two digit percentage.

What we want to see is the short and long term effects. Doesn't matter if it regrowth 500% if it looses potency after 6 months. What we want to see is a stable potency when talking about regrowth, not those short and fast 6 month studies.

We have seen with well done studies, that its not uncommon that potency is lost long term with a short term high potency, and vica versa.

So as is it right now, don't hold your breath for this. Especially since they don't even bother to show their previous studies on their own site.

10 years we have papers claiming "Minoxidil outperforming" ( some snake oil...some pepermint oil product based...) and minoxidil is still the better....

Ive got nothing to lose at this point other than a little money. Once this is on sale ill try it. If anything can even thicken up existing hairs it will help my situation immensely

Th18 is another version of this coming out in Q1 2021 that includes minoxidil

I appreciate them working on a version with minoxidil because applying even more daily topicals can be exhausting.

Q1 2021 won't be too long now.

Any news about this ? It seems to be snake oil but I want to know anyway, they planned to launch it Q1 2021.

I don't think it's snake oil, I just think it's a weak treatment. They updated their site to say early 2021 instead, so I guess we'll have to wait a little longer.
