Hi
I've been looking into hair systems for some time and the only company that I have found near to me that provides this service is total cover plus.
What's people's opinion on a hair system from total cover plus?

If you want a solution without much effort and can afford it then its a possible. However, the finished result can leave you with a far too dense hairline or wall of hair. Their systems are not custom made, plus you will learn only a limited amount should you want to do it yourself.

Thanks for the reply ‘grincher’.
I’ve read that you can pluck hairs from the system to make the system not look as dense or thick, I’m guessing this wouldn’t be advised tho.

I work overseas, and normally I’m away 8 weeks at a time. One of the main concerns I have is removing and refitting the system for the first time while I’m away. I am hoping total cover plus will show me all the tricks of the trade in a step by step guide on how to do this. I’ve watched all the videos on how to remove and reattach the system but for the first attempt I would ideally like to have a professional close by in case of any mishaps.
From what I’ve read and watched on YouTube it looks very unlikely the system would stay on for the full 8 weeks, or if it did, it would be sure to have a strong oder coming from it.

Hi Geordie

I'm not a fan either, based on their website and what a few users have told me. The systems look fake, they are overpriced, and actually from what I can tell they don't educate you to look after your own system - their business model is that you come back to them for "servicing" every month. I think you can do better, although you may have to leave Geordieland to get what you want.

If you travel for work, that is a good reason why you need to be able to be self-sufficient and look after your own system. Otherwise some day you will be in Timbuktu and something will go wrong - you will get some loose lace, or you'll tear the base or whatever, and you'll be in a panic because you're a thousand miles away from the salon. Honestly, it's pretty easy to pick up the techniques.

I have seen their videos, and I also believe, with very few exceptions (one dude in Brighton), their work looks, less than optimum.

The route I am following is ordering from a company whose business model is to support remote customers. (OneHead). They are willing to as little or as much as you are comfortable with via Skype, Facetime, etc. (no additional costs). I chose to go to their Madrid location for a consult, I think they have a location in London. I will go back for the cut-in, and instruction on self-maintenance.

I know that there are other companies that provide similar service.

As for "plucking the hairline"... do you REALLY want to go through that hassle after spending that much money? They could have easily gone the route of ordering the system with the correct density at the hairline. I start to wonder, when I see the videos, the person gets measured, and then fitted, how many of them are getting something custom, or stock? If you are going to go down this path and spend some serious cash, I would guess you would want something that looks as natural as possible?

Good luck!

P.S. Check out Curtis: He does everything DIY, after getting his first systems from a salon.

I have heard of guys using TCP and being unable to make a template to go to another supplier through a) lack of knowledge and confidence b)TCP keeping the old units

I have a friend in the USA, who still uses Hair Club, they also keep his old units, that get replaced every three months.
