Hey all,

This might be a long post, but I wanted to give you guys a quick recap of my first hair system experience.

I’d been shaving my head for a while (I got scalp micropigmentation a few years ago) and was generally happy with it, but I hated always being the “bald guy”, and having to keep my head shaved. I wanted more styling options, so I started looking into hair systems.

After about a year of casual research, I decided to book an appointment with a local salon that specializes in non-surgical hair restoration. That was enough to convince me to take the leap. Then, last Friday, I found myself in the salon chair with a new head of hair

I was honestly expecting to hate it. I heard it would take a while to get used to the “new look”. Mostly, I just couldn’t believe that I had actually gone through with it! It looked like I had hair again! Crazy! But I actually loved how I looked right off the bat. The only thing that took “getting used to” was recognizing my reflection in mirrors and windows haha.

I went for the shaved/blunt undercut look (link to pics below). It’s an edgier style than what I would normally go for, but it will allow me to grow my sides out while wearing the system, and then go back to the salon to get it properly blended together. (see pics here) Still trying to figure out how to style hair again

Anyway, after my appointment, I put my hair system to work. I met up with my boyfriend at a coffee shop. He was surprised at how natural it looked, and he kept wanting to touch it and run his fingers through it. He said he really liked it, but it would obviously take a bit to get used to. Fair enough – but over the next few days, he couldn’t stop complimenting it haha. I think it started looking much better as my sides grew out a little more.

After that, we walked around the city for a bit. Not a single suspicious stare. In fact, it was the opposite. I felt like people were looking at me because I was genuinely attractive, not because I had hair glued to my head – which was a huge confidence boost. We grabbed dinner with some friends we hadn’t seen in a few months, and they all said they loved my haircut, and asked why I was so insistent on shaving my head before. They had no idea...

It was still pretty poofy though, (I guess it takes a while for the hair to settle down?) so I put a hat on for a while, and was enjoying the feeling of having hair poking out from under my hat. It was hot outside, so I was really glad I got a lace base. It was surprisingly breathable, but I did feel a little hotter than normal – most likely due to the fact that my head was covered in hair now.

We ended the weekend by camping on a local island. I was nervous that the wind on the ferry might blow it off haha – but it wasn’t a problem at all. I was a little rough with it while we camped, and then wore a hat for part of the next day, but the hair was much less poofy, and seemed to behave much better once I found a style I liked.

Long story short – after a rather intense 5-day weekend and a very long, steamy post-camping shower, I realized that the front of my unit was starting to lift significantly (like a couple inches). Since the bonding glue/other supplies I had ordered hadn’t come yet, I decided to take the hair system off and store it until I can clean it and reattach. (The last of my supplies should be arriving today.)

Here are some of my takeaways from the experience:

1. Overall, I loved it. I’m excited to reattach it and try again.

2. I was surprised and a little disappointed that my bond lasted for such a short amount of time. I’m pretty active, so the fact that my bond weakened so quickly makes me worried for the future. Any tips on how to achieve a longer-lasting bond would be great. (It was a full-bond, btw – no tape.)

3. Still haven’t shown my friends or coworkers. And pretty terrified to do that still.

4. If I do stick with this, I’ll be really excited to try different styles J

5. Did I mention that it’s crazy to have hair again!?!?!

It doesn't look real, to be frank with you. Something is up with the density or texture; there's something very wig-like about it. If this sounds mean, fine; I'd rather you know the truth.

Wow, this honestly looks amazing! You are a seriously good-looking MF, haha.

Do you mind me asking what your recession is? seems like you have quite strong sides/temples, were you just missing on top?

Congrats on a great look!

I think it looks great. Given you·r sides are shaved, can't really tell what your bio density and texture are..In your case, I would not hesitate to wear it all the time. keep us posted.
What glue are you using ?

Aw, thanks! It feels great to have hair again!

My hair had receded up top, and my crown was slowly getting worse too. I think I was a Norwood 5 or something...

Congratulations Zakmandoo on taking a HUGE leap and sharing your journey with us! In particular, I liked your last photo because of the way you styled it more to the left.

Do keep us updated as to how you progress with wearing your hair system to work! Like you, this is currently terrifying for me too!
Thanks! And I will! Currently waiting on the last of my supplies to arrive before I can re-bond it at home. Once that happens, I’ll wear it to work. Still scared to debut it to my coworkers, but I like wearing it so much that the idea of being hairless again is almost more scary haha!
