I don't know much of anything regarding genetics, so this is an uneducated question at best, I must warn you.

Today I was pondering as to why certain people will lose hair before others, vice versa and those who won't lose any hair at all.

Do our genetics have the ability to simply say at 'X period of time begin hair loss phase' (much like turning a light switch on or off)?

I only assumed that we inherited the hair loss gene and that we as beings needed to induce the hair loss by meeting certain conditions (variables within our body) for hair loss to proliferate itself.

If hair loss is just one of those things that can turn itself on as instructed by our genetic makeup then surely the only thing we can do is turn it off, not slow it down.

But since people do show results with medications it would suggest to me that hair loss is merely an imbalance in which all of us men are succeptable to (to some degree) but in which only exists and appears in those men in which certain variables are met.

If that makes any sense at all....

Technically you are not wrong, but I think what we are currently doing is cheating nature/biology. Switching off the genetic tendency is an entirely different order of treatment.

I admit to being disappointed by the human mechanism. I don't feel in control of my body - I can instruct it on a purely superficial motor level but have no control over its internal mechanisms. This seems an absurd state of affairs.

LSD might allow you access to your body's committee, but I doubt it would listen.

Tchehov,

Your post touched on some thoughts I have had about the alpha mind (mind body connection).

We all have heard about people who have had cancer, tumors, paralysis etc.

I am sure we have also heard about those people (not necessarily people we know directly) who have cured what ails them, no matter its severity, by the power of thought alone acompanied by good wholistic practices (void of pharmaceutical medicine).

I was having a disucssion with a friend the other night about the power of thought and what it means to the human body. The power of thought can influence your cells biology for better or for worse, induce illness or replicate superior health.

For example if you continuously say to yourself in your minds arena, "I am sick, I am sick, I am sick..." eventually you will begin develop such symptons that are like in nature of a certain sickness and eventually you will become sick.

It is apparent that the subconcious mind can NOT distinguish the difference between, right, wrong, true, false, a joke or being serious. That poses to be a huge problem especially for pesimistic and negative people.

How many times do you stand in front of the mirror saying to yourself "I am losing my hair..."? I'd say we all do this and no doubt everyday. It does not take long for your subconcious mind to make it reality.

To give you an example. "Breathing". Breathing is a subconcious action. Not to long ago I began to have difficulties in breathing where by I would breathe out of sync and often find myself short of breath. Because I kept telling myself that this was a problem lowe and behold it become one that was ingrained into my subconcious.

Largo (Baroque) tempo music at 60bpm is supposed to induce the alpha-state of mind, where by you can increase your learning up to 25% give or take.

Infact anyone proficient in NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) can probably help in enducing the true alpha state so you can mess with your subconcious.

I really do feel that many an answer lay with out subconcious, for are only products of our present and concious society (thought processes)

LSD, as you said, is probably to strong to allow you an effective (clear) journey into the brains deep and unknown.

It's an interesting subject.

When I first began to research baldness on the internet I found a Russian webpage by a guy who made his own subliminal messsage files in MP3 format with a software programme. So he'd take a piece of (baroque) music and record his own personal message to his sub-conscious at the correct frequency and listen to it while he slept. He claimed to have a little success at everything from dating to balding. He even gave a link to the software programme at Rapidshare. At the time I just laughed, but I'm sorry now I didn't check it out a bit more. He didn't mention enhancing the experience with drugs, which I think would be neccessary for identification (burning the message).
