The harsh reality of hairloss fourms

i have been suffering from male pattern baldness for at least 7 years now. Only in the past year and a half have i turned to internet fourms for help and support. However, i'm starting to loose faith in the reciprocal of me as i realize that many of you are possible online sales reps. I see that you guys may also be suffering from male pattern baldness and are trying to help us. Still i also know that you are motivated to sell your own product and will do or say what it takes to do so. That is totally reasonable. i'm just finding that too much of what is said is, from my point of view, tainted by those who are trying to sell their product.. and i'm finding that not being able to tell who is a sales rep and who is like me is impossible...i guess what im trying to say is that either i'm loosing faith in these forums...or am approaching them the wrong way. :hairy:

Geez, you are a cynic. Everyone is a sales rep, right? So what are you selling?

You are approaching them the wrong way.

10 people outta the several thousands I have encountered on these forums have been trying to push their products. What's the percentage on that??! Very very low and that makes it ridiculous to assume EVERBODY is trying to sell something.

I dont know. I dont think people advertising on this site is that big of a problem. They're usually really easy to pick out. If someone has one post and it's boasting some product as a miracle hairloss treatment simply disgard them. If someone seems too hyped up about a product (Greg), do a search on their name, if the search comes back and it seems that person is participating in a lot of threads that dont boost that certain product, chances are they have no affiliation with any company. Most the users on this forum are genuine male pattern baldness sufferers looking for advice and support.

I think it’s easy to spot the sales people.

Look for the people who are closed minded, aggressive and take am evangelical approach to their own regimen :)

I can personally offer you my fantastic range of products at a knock down price, one time only and you have to reply in the next 90 minutes or the price goes up!

Ok, so I post at a forum and show any bit of enthusiasm about any one product and... I'm a sales rep? EEESH! I dunno. So according to your evaluation if I or anyone for that fact, goes over the top in their enthusiasm for any one product, they are a sales person? Hmmm... well, I guess then that you would need to define terms here as you open the field wide on that one:)

sh*t dude that is a really naive thing to say.

Like I've said to other posters before there is no point trying to extrapolate a consensus from a message board because its far from an exact science.

There are studies out there. Use them. Don't reject evidence determined by scientific method.

If having perused the studies and clinical trials you are not satisfied that the lasercomb, for example, is "beneficial" then don't buy it.

By contrast, look up the word anecdotal and you get subjective, unrelieable, untrustworthy, undependable and sketchy.

Firsty I am not a "sales rep", nor am I familiar with the term. I am a successfull user of the following products:

Hareeboi Thick Gel® - May increase overall haircount by 100-200% from as little as 3 days. Only needs to be used 4-7 times a day. I get mine for the low, low price of 19.99 per 20ml bottle. Paying a cheap price like that that? The guys that make it must be mad!

Crockfinpea® - A combination of powerfull ingredients in tablet form that may maintain and/or thicken, halt or reduce hairloss at the hairline and/or vertex.

I can give you free personal advice as I do with all my friends on this chatboard/forum. Please feel free to contact me for further information on how to obtain these amazing products. I'm glad I can help all my good friends on this board to grow their hair back using the two products listed above.

My personal favorite - the guys that post unbelievable results regarding their regimen, but then you see them browsing the Hair Pieces, Systems, Wigs for Men section.

Tony Montana is famous for doing this...how else can he keep that impecable bowl hairdo that he intimidates people with.

:D you crazzzzzzzzzze main!

LOL!!! Always crack me up!

I agree with what some of jimmystanley says, but this forum is the exception to the rule. This forum is moderated, not only by the owners and moderators, but by the experienced users on the board who are quick to call out a sham and BS corporate salesmen who make bogus posts to generate publicity about their product. Pretty pathetic if you ask me, because if they really did have a legitiment product they woulnd't need to do so and let the product sell for itself. This is, IMO, the best most objective and fact oriented hairloss forum in the internet.

This is one of the few forums that does not allow a single salesman to post here whatsoever. This is the one place you can rest assured you are not getting taken for by anyone.

well, i'm not saying that i'm giving up on hair loss fourms...and i do realize that HairLossTalk.com is one of the better ones...but when the admin says ' we do not allow any sales men' ...how are we supposed to know that's true? I just think it's easy to hide behind a computer screen and create 'hairloss characters'. i guess i'm just having a hard time because i want to believe what all these guys are saying, but in the back of my mind there is a level of skeptisim now...that's all i'm saying.

Good. There should be a level of skepticism. Take everything you read with a grain of salt and do your own research while interacting with others on the forums. With enough time and effort you will be able to discern between B.S. and viable options.

One little hint, though, that I am sure you know but I am just throwing out there for anyone:

If a poster comes out of nowhere with awesome claims that he regrew his hair and yadda, yadda, yadda with some new product then why is he on a hairloss forum AFTER he found the cure? I mean, really. Noone finds a solution to their affliction and THEN starts posting on hairloss forums. It's just human nature. Everyone has something to gain.

For most, they want good info to help themselves and to interact with others that have the same affliction. For forum owners/ operators they want to provide this service to the public and maybe make a living out of it in the process doing what they are passionate about - helping others with their problems. For shills, well, its just the money "earned" from leading some uneducated folks down the wrong path. The good thing is that they are usually quickly called out publicly and not heard of again. THe bad thing is that it seems that they are replaced by two more in a few weeks. It's the nature of the beast.

1. Trust scientific proof that these products work

2. The Mods & Owner of this site comb the forums looking for salesmen and constantly discuss this issue. We have ways of easily filtering out the bad guys. Yes it is easy to hide behind a screen but we are very good at spotting them fast because they don't know the tools we have and even without them there are always telltale signs.

3. You can always PM a Mod if you are suspicious of a salesmen.

1) Just because most people on planet earth lie cheat and steal to get more money, doesn't mean everyone does.

2) There actually are true, honest, good-hearted people running businesses in this world. People who genuinely want to help, and would spend all night vomiting their brains out if they lied to gain a dollar. Simply put, that is me. I could not live with myself if I allowed personal financial gain to come from any deception or trickery like letting sales guys post here incognito. My conscience is stronger than I would like it to be sometimes!

I don't think anyone is making any outrageous claims or that there is any abnormal amount of positive feedback on products here. If that was going on I'd agree with your skepticism.

I know its hard, but your skepticism needs to be created based upon examples of shady dealings that you've seen or encountered with each individual or organization you are suspicious of. It isn't logical or intellectual to just have suspicion without any real life examples to point to. If you'd seen something shady go on here, then of course - that would build some suspicion. But try not to create it out of the blue or you'll walk around being suspicious of everyone all the time.

well...there are the obvious guys who do nothing but promote their products and say how much hair they grew back. Those guys are easy to pick out as sales dudes and i pay no attention to them. But i just think it would be so easy to disquise yourself on here and play out your character for a while and then start to promote a product. Hell...i would totally make a great sales rep!!! now if i started talking about great results and guys start asking what i was using... i'm sorry if i'm being cynical...i'm just talking about what i'm thinking and i noticed it hasn't really been brought up before(
