Greetings from Egypt,
My name is Mohamed, I'm 21 and am freaked out because of my hair loss. My hair has always been long, thick and shiny until 2 years ago when it started to look crooked but still long, thick, and shiny. I started working out 1 year ago for about 6 months and my diet improved a lot with supplements like Centrum and whey protein. I experienced what I call a rebirth of my childhood hair. My hair grew at a crazy rate and got complements from everyone. Well this happened despite the fact that bodybuilding boosts testosterone levels and so DHT increases. After stopping going to the gym my diet got messed up and was (and still is) way unhealthy. I started shedding a lot of hair the first 1-3 months and then recently my hairline started receding and my hair thins out and falls at a constant rate
Now my father started getting bald only at 42, he's 51 now. He still has his side and back hairs long and thick but white. His father wasn't bald and his brothers aren't.
My grandfather from my mother's side was bald but his son wasn't. Now I'm thinking If i'm getting bald, then it has to be sometime later in my life.
I'm thinking of going back to the gym only for my diet to improve and get those vitamins and minerals back to my body. But I'm still concerned about the level of DHT (which I guess is very active in my body right now) to increase and ruin everything for me.
I don't know if this is related but I have a very oily skin and get frequent acne. I'm also guessing that maybe the closed pores at the top of my face contributed to the receding hairline.
I went to a dermatologist who prescribed me a minoxidil and multivitamins which I used for 3 months but with no minor improvement. In fact my hair continued falling at a high rate.
I know this would never be your bedtime story but I'm currently stressed out because of my hair problem. I don't want to visit other dermatologists who would prescribe me similar treatments.
I had to get this off my chest
