Temple Recession Unsure What To Do Looking For Advice

So I started to be concerned about hair loss about 2 years ago. I get like I was noticing thinning. My family told me I was crazy but I was obsessive. Went to a local derm a few times and he told me again and again “minor recession over left temple. Doesn’t look like male pattern baldness”. Wasn’t good enough for me I was convinced I was catching something earlier than everyone else. So I went on finasteride about 6 months ago and some minoxidil (which the derm suggested just for ‘peace of mind’ on the offending region on my left temple). Took these the other night and I’m a bit discouraged. My hairline was a concave line about a year and a half ago (I’m 26 now). It still is in the right side of my head (just and arcing semi circle with no recession at all not even a V or Norwood 1. No angles at all completely unbroken). The left side however seems to keep wanting to push in. In these pics my hairline was where the baby hairs are about a year and a half to two years ago. Now it seems it’s pushed in at least a half inch over my left temple. Made an appointment to go see a different specialist. Staying on finasteride and minoxidil usual routine. But just kinda bummed, discouraged, and losing my mind. Opinions?

Sorry yeah I’m a guy. I know it’s a solid hairline but what’s alarming is just how quick it turned from a flat concave line (where the baby hair are) to where it sits now about a half inch back (looks like it’s gonna turn into NW1 I’m about a year). I mean I read somewhere that there’s such a thing as a ‘mature hairline’. Where it pushes back slightly in the temples to that more ‘adult dude’ look and that that can happen anywhere between 18 and 27 (I’m 26 now). But I’ve seen a lot of cynicism on these forums about the topic so I didn’t wanna tell myself something that wasn’t true. The fact of the matter is it’s definitely pushed back in the past two years over my left temple. When I run my hands close to my scalp and lift the hair straight up the right side of my head is flush to my scalp with now breaks in the line. The left side has a jagged indent. I don’t know. Maybe I’m crazy.

Yeah you are sort of Norwood - 1 and very rare in that you have almost a female hairline and most women don't have it that good.

You can see it more in the second photo. That coin shaped indent was down about a half to 3/4 of an inch I think. It was all completely flush. I don’t know if it’s starting to change because I’m in my mid twenties and that’s just what happens or if this is something that’s gonna turn into something. You know? My dad has a full head of hair and he’s 60. But my brothers going bald (he’s 28 about to be 29). His is pretty progressed but he was already showing signs in his early twenties. My maternal grandfather had a head of hair into his 80’s with some recession and thinning eventually but he always had hair on top of his head. My maternal uncles both have male pattern baldness. One is completely bald the other has a bald spot and temple recession. My paternal grandfather has a head of hair and he’s 90. There’s thinning obviously because he’s 90 but he’s got a head of hair.

-sorry for giving my life’s story. I never even thought about hair loss until a couple years ago and now I’m having problems obsessing about it

I mean your on finasteride. Can't really do much. Your hair is fine but I do see that thinning patch. It's probably just maturing and will continue untill around 30-31. Your just losing your juvenile hairline. Which can happen untill around 30-31

well then follow up question. Was freaking out and getting in finasteride a mistake or a solid preventative measure for the future

I’d just rather not do that ‘wait for it to get bad and then do something about it’ type deal

I dunno the answer to that. I mean I guess it's better to be preventative then try and get lost hair back.....

Not that it matters that much but how much hair do you notice you shed?

Well it’s very long now so more but I’m not pulling out clumps. If I run my hands through my hair I could come away with about 6 maybe on average. Every morning when I’m brushing my teeth there’s always three or four that fall into the sink. But I’m not looking at hands covered in hair when I’m like putting in shampoo in the shower or anything. Likewise not seeing really anything in the drain after I’m done

because of the length I’m definitely coming away with at least one or two or three strands almost every time I run my hands through my hair. But it’s usually only about that much.
