Found info on this on a another forum. It can be used create an appearance of a stubbly shaved head or reduce the appearance of thin spots within your hair.

For hiding a bald spot, you're likely to get a similar or greater benefit from a concealer. For a head of hair entirely, you're better off with a piece. It's not a bad option for those who look good with a buzzcut, although the hairline you've got to be careful that the hairline you get from it doesn't look too artificial.

I seroiusly dont get why more people havnt thought about doing this.

Look at that pic, pretty good.

I guess the downfalls are that first of, you would have to constantly keep it down to a 1-2 guard. And then what about the problem of eventuall grey hair?

If these types of tattoos could be created to last say 5 years, then this would definitly be something to look into.

Still interesting why more people havnt talked about this or have actually have had this done quite frankly. I guess it is or at least looks fairly impractical, but still, if done well (see link above) this surely is a greater way to hide baldness than any other, and its not really 'hiding' your hair loss as such.

The only other thing that comes close to this in terms of actually 'regaining' hair is a wig, and a wig would surely be more hassle and more psychologically draining than buzzing every few days? Im not sure, but this treatment definitly interests me. I had actually thought about this before in my head, so its interesting to actually see it being done.

Has anyone got any more infomation/opinions on this? Do you reckon it might be worthwhile?

Alot of hair loss solutions look good in pictures but not so good in real life. I'm sure it might be concincing from across a room but maybe not up close. And tattoo ink has a habit of changing colour over time. Also skin tone would possibly play a role in how realistic it looks and for every tattooist who does a realistic job like that you can bet there are 20 that would f*** it right up.

unfortunately it seems like you havent seen good tattoos..and most people who get tattoos go for price which is retarded...im pretty sure they use really high quality ink for this kind of stuff,i got my arm sleeve when i was 18 and im now 26 and it looks just as good now as it did 8 years ago, very bright colors, maybe this procedure would be good for diffuse thinners,

some of the photos ive seen look pretty good and some look so so,but the so so ones seem to be from people who were slick bald on spots,id maybe consider this as i have thinning hair all over with no bald spots at all

That is a terrible job if I ever saw one. But it looks like he used regular tattoo ink and had the whole thing shaded in as opposed to getting it stippled on. But that is the real question concerning head tattoos? Is that what it will look like eventually when and if the ink bleeds or did this guy just have an unusually bad job done? I really want to know. I tried looking for reviews of some companies that do head tattoos and I couldn't find anything. I emailed headstyl.com and depending on how they answer my questions and have real customers that I can look at face to face then I might consider it.

Oh, and to answer hope4hair's question. You don't see this come up much because it gets pushed into the concealer section like my last tattoo thread...where it never see's the light of day.

They used a LOT of ink on that guy. Yeah, maybe it spread. But still too much. Looks fake now. But even though the hair looks fake, it still helps his face a lot. If he were NW7, his face would look much worse. So still an improvement. Just don't let them go that heavy.

I'm thinking of using this to fill in my sides and other places too dense to use hair transplant. Maybe even my top a bit, though BHT will go in there.

I know it is most realistic on shaved heads, but I don't think it will look bad even on a regular head. Yeah, up close some people will wonder how you shaved half the hairs and not the others. Might give it away. But if your face is framed and your hair looks fuller, it is an improvement. Much better than a woman getting dermmatch on her pillow or in her fingers, or rinsing out in the pool, or you having to put it on every day.

Fact is, you can shave your head, and look not bald.

Just don't walk in and ask for it. First spend lots of time designing your hairline. Start high, work lower. Look at lots of pics. Common sense.

And I bet people can see the tatoo through your hair in direct sunlight. Direct sunlight shows everything.

If you go outside with this, shave, or wear a hat. I just think it is nicer than wearing dermmatch.
