Abstract
Introduction
trans-3,4′-Dimethyl-3-hydroxyflavanone (t-flavanone) is a derivative of astilbin that actively stimulates hair growth. The aim of the present study was to identify the mechanisms of action of t-flavanone on hair growth.

Methods
A double-blind usage test was performed with healthy volunteers who had androgenic alopecia (Androgenetic Alopecia). The subjects were divided into three groups with equal average baldness. The members in each group applied a vasodilator-containing hair lotion supplemented with either 0, 0.1, or 0.3% (wt) t-flavanone twice a day for 30 weeks. The efficacy of t-flavanone was evaluated based on the parietal global and microscopic images. At week 30, the anchoring strength of hair was measured by the average peak force required for plucking out a single hair in a non-bald area using a digital force gauge. Desmoglein expression in the cultured human hair follicle was analyzed by Western blotting.

Results
After 30 weeks, t-flavanone significantly improved Androgenetic Alopecia and enhanced the hair-anchoring strength in a hair diameter-independent manner. Culture of human hair follicles in vitro with t-flavanone resulted in the upregulation of desmoglein protein expression.

Conclusions
The results of our in vivo and in vitro studies demonstrated that t-flavanone enhanced the cell-cell adhesions in hair follicles; thus, reinforcement of hair rooting may be a mechanism by which t-flavanone promotes hair growth.

Astilbin is found in Chinaroot which is referred to as Tu Fu Ling in traditional Chinese Medicine. One of its many uses is for 'heat' (inflammation) & 'toxicity' (infection) causing acne, boils, carbuncles and other skin conditions. You can purchase the liquid extract and alcohol-based tincture easily.

Astilbin and t-Flavanone are quite different from one another. I'm not sure why you're assuming they're interchangeable or that they will have similar effects. The difference between testosterone and estrogen - two functionally very different hormones - is a single methyl and hydroxyl group, and that's a far smaller difference than the one between these two.

If you want to test the results from this study, you'll have to test t-flavanone. Buying some herb that contains something remotely similar to the chemical used in the study is a far reach.

I bought the Sensai hair loss lotion which contains t-Flavanone and will start using it soon.

I also bought and just received the lotion. They also have a Sensai shampoo but with no t-flavanone (contrary to what was indicated on the German website where I bought it)...just piroctone olamine (better than nothing).

There is also the "Dualsenses Scalp Specialist by Goldwell Anti-Hairloss Spray 125ml" which has t-flavanone and is cheaper than the Sensai lotion.

It looks like the product is not available anymore. How did that go?

Well, it smelled nice. That's about it. I went through the one bottle (lasted about 2 and a half months), didn't really get the impression that it was doing much.

It's also insanely expensive for what it is (70 USD). You could buy a 6 month supply of minoxidil for that price.

LOL seriously dude, on a NW7 like that guy, he likely wouldn't even see any regrowth from Dutasteride. The fact that he had any regrowth from this especially on the front is impressive. o_O

That guy gets it!^^^^

Seems that this company has OTC hair products that are all medicated with t-flavanone if anyone wants to try it. Pretty popular brand in Japan and Amazon carries some of their stuff
