Switching from finasteride to dutasteride

HEllo guys, so i;m on finasteride for 4 years+ now. It really continues to work, but, maybe at some time i will need to change to dutasteride.
For those who made the switch, what can you tell? I've heard reports about shedding, or about dutasteride worsening hairline.
Would it be a good idea to go with both finasteride AND dutasteride for some time and then drop finasteride?

Has all the recent talk scared you into upgrading your defence system? :jump:

What Norwood are you? If it isn't broken, don't fix it. In other words, stick to what is working and approved. Only move on to dutasteride if you're losing ground, it's a big move. Some people have reported a lot more regrowth on dutasteride, depends what exactly you're needing hair wise.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. Yes there is no point using both together if you think in terms of DHT inhibition, although some people add dutasteride once a week and stick with the finasteride. There are some forms of the enzyme that only finasteride targets and vice versa, so perhaps it is best to use both? There is no right or wrong answer as there has been no trial on it as far as I know.

Haha indeed. The guy is all like "Hair doesn't matter, wear your baldness proud like a man, you're pathetic if you cry over hair loss!"

And of course he says that comfortably under his NW2.5 while considering a drug that transsexuals take to be sure that his hair doesn't leave him.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

Can you please stop attacking me on all threads? Did i say something about you here?
This is an immature behaviour. I understand you don't like what i write/my personal opinions(yeah, how messed up is to not accept people's opininons, and consider that everybody must think like you?), but there's no need to personal attack me everywhere you see a post.
I think "ignore poster" function on this forum would be useful.
You feel a satisfaction to contradict and argue with people, almost to the pathologic.
What's your problem? Yes, i'm Norwood 2,5, but i buzz it with a 1-2 mm, because it doesn't look good grown out. I don't have a full NW2.5 head of hair, it's diffuse and with patches, even at the hairline. And yes, i'd like to keep it like this, not let it get worse.
You have severe problems in understanding other people's points, and big problems with logic and reasoning. There is no hypocrisy.
The fact that you must accept you don't have a full head of hair DOESN'T EXCLUDE that you may want to not let it further deteriorate.
Did i say anywhere that you simply must let your hair go, all of it, while contemplating? Wtf? Why are you deforming what i say? If you can maintain your current situation(which is not ideal), why not?
Your problem is that you see all only in black and white, there's no shade of grey at you.
IT's getting annoying as hell...you're a troll.
And what's the drug for transexuals? Please stop talking crap.
Dutasteride was made for prostate issues.

So, can you please ignore me? Becausing i'm thinking to do the same with you.
All well!!

I am with Fred on this one dude. How can you preach acceptance if you are not even experiencing aggressive hair loss or are even close to losing all your hair.

If you haven't switched yet, don't. Especially if finasteride is working for you. I switched from finasteride to dutasteride nearly 6 months ago and the shed is TERRIBLE (at least in my case). I have a transplanted hairline, and I have definitely noticed extra thinning directly behind it, making me think that maybe the hairline destruction myth isn't so crazy. But I still stand with science and think its just a coincidence. It'll be nice to have dutasteride to fall back on if finasteride ever stops working for you, so I wouldn't if I were you.

Also, I can speak from experience that dutasteride did not turn me into a transsexual lol. Surprisingly never got side effects at all. I think fred may have been thinking of spironolactone pills which I've heard pretty much turn you into a woman. good luck though!

are you f*cking kidding me, dude you sound like a 5 year old. hair loss is hairloss and the anticipation of how you would look bald is still scary as hell when you're actively losing hair. yes, maybe he came onto the forum seeking approval for what he thought would be as easy as "just shaving it" but we have all had that denial phase. Let the man be and stop kissing freds ***, whether ur nw2 or nw6 the thought of going bald is still scary, just because you actually lived it you think it gives you some sort of credibility? gtfoh
