Success but at a cost

I have been using Nizoral twice a week since December 2014, Minoxidil foam daily since Feb 2015 and 125mg of finasteride daily since Feb 8th 2015.

Very pleased with the results, hair has really thickened up at the front and improved on the vertex.

But I have been feeling tired and lazy the past few weeks (I always used to like getting up early), also feeling a bit low for no obvious reason.
I assume this is due to the finasteride.

I was just reading about spironolactone cream but see many have complained about adverse systemic symptoms from applying it to the scalp.
Has anyone had success applying finasteride topically? Any good posts worth reading on the subject?

I believe the general consensus seems to be that IF finasteride is gonna work topically, it's gonna work because it's absorbed in the bloodstream through the scalp which makes it rather pointless to rub it on your scalp instead of just swallowing the pill.

Unfortunately this is the nature of the "treating hair loss" beast right now. Until better treatments come along. You're depleting your system of hormones that its used to working with, so the net result can be feeling a little drained. I think you are also taking more finasteride than you are supposed to, and more than you need. 1.25mg has a higher incidence of side effects than 1mg, and I am not convinced that everyone really needs 1 full mg to see results either.

I would take the necessary steps to lower your dose to the recommended 1mg and maybe consider 0.5 or 0.75mg as well.

Thanks for the replies.

Good point Koga.

Admin, I bought Fincar 5mg pills and tried cutting them into 5 with a pill cutter at first but was making a mess of it so have been cutting them into 4.
I could try cutting the 1/4's in half for about 60mg a day.

Possibly Ronin.
