Everyone here kept telling me to start on Finasteride and I thought I could just use minoxidil and keep my hair. Turns out I was wrong. My bottle of 1mg Finasteride arrived today and I was told I am supposed to take the pill once a day, at the same exact time everyday. I hope that's true!

hi....don't expect finesteride to grow anything back..this happens in very rare cases,if you maintain for 10 years plus with finasteride you would count yourself very lucky.....most likely scenario is that it will slow your male pattern baldness but certainly not amazingly.
however i hope you are a super responder.

“In very rare cases”? I would advice u to go check the researches that have been made on finastride. Just because it didn’t regrow ur own hair doesn’t make it very rare.

dont really care about the research....you can delude yourself all you want but if you are destined to be a norwood 3,4,5 or whatever then finesteride will not stop that, slow down yes maybe, stop doubtful, reverse and regrow hair, almost never.....if the results of finesteride were as good as the research suggests then male pattern baldness would almost be cured...i mean 86% above baseline after 5 years.......im guessing the exact figures but you get the jist.

Dude can you stop destroying my hopes and dreams?! This forum is so f*****g toxic and degrading and it's destroying any hope I have left. I've regrown hair with minoxidil, and finasteride can help even more.

Studies on finasteride based on long-term usage classify success as anything above baseline.

I find it hilarious because those amount of people just had to surpass baseline to be classed as success within long-term studies. Factors didn't go into it, such as: patients who use finasteride and reach their peak of success after seven years, but after that their results begin declining. However, after the ten year point they still had more hair to begin with but the balding was evident. That would be classed within the responding percentage.

ive actually been on finasteride for years and take it to give me peace of mind that im at least trying to do something about my hairloss.
im not bald either(yet)norwood 2.5 at 39....reasonable density.
however i do get why you think im a negative party pooper and you're probably right and everyones body chemistry is different and you may be a super responder and regrow hair on finasteride(i hope this is the case) just dont expect it because imao finasteride is only average weapon to fight male pattern baldness.

If you pay close attention to those studies you will notice that a lot of participants drop out. I don't know if they are accounted for.

In the original study done by Merck on efficacy in the 90s the group receiving only Propecia started out with over 500 in it, but when it concluded 5 years later there were only 219 left.

Sure, out of that 219 83% stopped losing their hair, but what about the roughly 300 who quit? Did Merck simply let a huge number of non-responders drop out and then not count them in the final results?

Take finasteride 1MG. Worst case scenario consider Dutasteride at your own risk. That drug blocks 90% of the main hormone that causes hairloss.

Yes there are other factors that cause hairloss but DHT is the main one. Trying to argue against that is like arguing the world is flat. Do you really think it’s possible to go fully bald when the main hormone that causes hairloss is reduced to that extent?

You won’t go bald while you’re taking that drug. The forums make things unbelievably complicated. Individuals are welcome to jump in and attack this post. Actually ,I’m sure they will. Good luck on your hairloss journey.
