Been wearing for over 11 years but in last few months been getting a bad rash with nasty residue. .rash sometimes weeps...to combat this have been wearing loose and treating rash with diluted cider vinegar and athlete foot cream...seems to have calmed things a bit...anyone else had this?

Nope, as I always patch test for 24 hours with a tiny bit of glue or tape put on my arm with a plaster/band aid over it.

All the home cure sites recommend cider vinegar...

just find it odd after 11 years had no issues and then in last few months been having problems

Have you had the purialent cultured? If not, why would you assume it's fungal, and guess at treatment?

I've had a similar issue with a heat rash and the tape. Try tea tree oil. It should help.

I get contact dermatitis from tapes. Probab;ly not your case, but maybe you suddenly developed an allergy?

Nope...never used scalp protector in 11 years of wearing...my regimen is wash..clean and tape up every 5-7 days...only in last few months i have noticed a red rash around head and in places weeping...i am trying to limit wearing..so if indoors not wearing or if go out either hat or partial tape...been treating with sudocrem and washing hair every other day...been using a new salon who looked at it and said stop wearing for a bit and gave me some hyper allergenic tape and sprayed head with scalp protector...im just puzzled that its happening after 11 years of wearing...its getting me down as i have to look at what i really am in the mirror and its like every avenue is getting closed off...hair transplant not an option ...regaine stopped working..and now cant wear hairpiece .been keeping me awake at night fretting over something so trivial

Try different tapes or glues on a patch test. Lots of different bonds out there, i'm sure you'll find one that you dont have a bad reaction to.
