Should I Start Treatment, Can't Tell If Bad Haircut Or Thinning!

Hey guys, just wondering if it is time to see a doctor about my hair loss. I have a had a receding hairline since I wasn't about 16 (24 now). My dad was bald in his 30's. I was always ok with the receding hairline and honestly it didn't bother me. However, I just got my hair cut fairly short and noticed my hair looks like it's thinning on top in certain lighting or from certain angles. I can't tell if I never noticed this before and it's always been that way because of my cow lick by my crown, or if my longer hair was hiding my thinning hair. Let me know what you think! The first one was taken right after my haircut in the bathroom light that is harsh. The other two were a week later. I can't tell if he just miscut my swirl or if I need to see a doctor!

Thinking about it! Just a little worried about the side effects, not sure if it's better to be bald and be able to have a full libido or roll the dice and lose my libido AND hair

Being honest with you, we're the same age and my loss is pretty aggressive, id probably be further along than you without rogaine and finasteride, but i feel as if im still losing density on treatment, i only take finasteride 3-5x a week though, but based on how the drug works this shouldnt be an issue. i definitely have more than my genetics was destined for me to have at 24, but i cant say ive successfully halted my loss, and i just hit the 1 year mark. Shedded like a fkn animal the first 7-8 months, overall i notice a HUGE reduction of hair on my bedsheets and pillows, thats how i know the shedding rate has changed.

If you want a real shot at battling aggressive hair loss like we have, finasteride is really your best and unfortunately only option, minoxidil wont hurt, but the hassle and shedding and potential sides, i can understand why someone would wanna put it off for a bit.

Thanks man! Was the shedding noticable to others? Right now I feel I can get away with the crown being thin and honestly don't want to make the situation worse. Did you notice any side effects with Propecia use?

No problem man, the shedding wasnt noticeable, i cant say my hair even looked exponentially worse when i was shedding. I havent noticed any sides at all, sexually or mentally, but its quite obvious based on experiences here that each persons experience on the drug is different and you'd have to try fo yourself to know if you'd have any side effects

Really appreciate the quick reply! What do you make of all this permenant loss of Libido? I somewhat feel that it's just a lot of guys losing confidence because their hair is falling out and then they blame it on the drug. What are your thoughts?

No problem man, you caught me at a good time lol im rarely actually on here on my desktop, usually on my phone but i had some work to do soo...

Honestly, i believe the stories of people losing libido and ability to get a full erection while ON the drug... i dont necessarily believe the people who have these permanent side effects, do i believe they can be persistent for a couple months after coming off the drug? yes definitely, as hormones are sensitive and take time to adjust to new levels, but i know at least 3-4 people in real life who have been on and off finasteride, me included and have never had any of these permanent side effects that people speak of. Hairloss is depressing, depressed people dont wanna have sex, depressed people are also alot more prone to anxiety, performance anxiety is a thing. Add that together with temporary side effects from propecia and you can stretch out your ED period exponentially and just blame it on propecia, cause thats the easiest thing to do. This is all just my opinion though, i could be wrong, but me personally i have intentionally taken the drug for a couple months, just to see how my body would respond to me getting off it, nothing permanent in my case.

@Brad515 Suck it up brad and get on finasteride! You wont get permenant ED.. even if you did you still get to keep your hair so i would count that as a win. There are far stronger, scarier drugs than finasteride with even worse side effects. Just pop the damn pill already.
