I do like this sentiment, but I think that the real fact is that for most people (but not all), what really makes them happy is when other people think positive things about them, whatever aspect of them it might relate to. These real men that you speak of, as admirable as they may be, rarely exist outside the fictional context of movies...Dirty Harry is a perfect example.
