Seriously Considering Finasteride..

I'm edging very close towards starting finasteride soon. I'm almost certain that I am starting to slowly bald and hair loss is something I can not shake my head of. I know people on previous posts have proclaimed I'm a Norwood 1, that I'll be a full head all my life but this seriously isn't the case. The pictures I'm posting aren't showing the recession clearly enough for you to understand my point of view. I feel my overall hair's appearance has changed drastically over the past year too, it seems thinnner and more wispy than previously.

Problem is, I'm only 19 so should I withstand using finasteride until I at least turn 20? I'm scared of the potential side effects and I've also read a few stories on how it's actually made some people's hair worse than it originally was. I'm very likely to start taking it soon as a preventive and insurance measure. It's just hard taking that first step towards a lifetime commitment on a drug that could potentially damage my body.

You're looking for someone to hold your hand like a small child. You did your research, you posted for advice before, make a decision.

Yes I'm aware that I've done research however that doesn't mean people can't comment on their personal expierence with the drug? It was mainly aimed at people who are of a similar age to me anyway.

Hey Jack, im 20 and one of the guys who ended up making things worse by adding in finasteride ( i still can't believe it ) but it doesn't happen that often, its one of the best things we have for fighting hair loss and if you respond well you can bet you can keep a decent head of hair for years to come! You are lucky to be Norwood 1 but i do think you are slowly losing ground. Side effects ( Mainly errectile dysfunction and gyno ) are very rare. The good news is that finasteride isn't our only effective tool, oral minoxidil is great for hair too, im actually regrowing the hair finasteride ate away and im not even 2 months in yet!
Whatever decision you make do it with confidence, because without treatments you are going to go bald eventually.. good luck :)
