If that's your biggest argument against Propecia .... Minoxidil .... etc ... that there is a conspiracy out there by paid individuals of those companies .... to promote the products .... then ... well .... thats the fantasy world you've chosen to live in I guess
All joking aside my friend, people advise you away from saw palmetto for a reason.
On one hand you have a product with nearly 20 years of clinical proof and well over 10 published studies including a testing group of nearly 2,000 people showing that something works. Propecia.
On the other hand you have a product without a single successful study showing it does a thing for hair loss... but over 100 studies showing it works great for Prostate inflammation. That eliminates the conspiracy theory. Works great for prostates! Tons of data to prove it. Hair loss?
Ok... so you say you've seen a few people on hair loss forums claiming it works. Where are these people? Ive been running this site for over 6 years and I've seen only one guy claim the stuff worked for him and he was on Minoxidil at the time.
Despite all of this, some will still insist on ignoring the reality of things and will do their own thing... to the peril of their hair.
So to answer your questions.
You want to know why one says "2 twice a day" and "extra strength". These terms make me chuckle. Hmmmm. How did they decide on 2, twice a day. 2 twice a day to treat what condition? Hair loss? Prostate inflammation? What condition are they saying this is for?
With Propecia you've got a prescription, and a 1mg daily dose based on 10 years and billions of dollars of studies. But who needs all of that crap! You've got serenoa repins berries!
Saw Palmetto is a supplement used for everything from erection problems to prostate inflammation. So 2 twice a day ... Does it say hair loss on the bottle? If not ... how do you know you're taking enough?
Maybe hair loss needs 4 twice a day. Maybe you need the 320mg version you saw. Maybe only one a day? How can you know? You cant! Why? Because ... you cant! Nobody has a damn clue what does what with Saw Palmetto in regards to hair loss. They only know that in studies done on it, it did nothing. Do you enjoy literally stumbling around in the dark like that? I would rather bang my head against a wall!
Standardized or not standardized. Does it matter? Which one works best for hair loss? Standardized? Who knows? Not me. Not you. Not anyone.
So to answer your questions: Take whatever you want. 1mg or 450mg. Standardized or not. 2 twice a day or 40 once a day. None of it matters at all because you are working with 0 data and you have 0 reason to believe either one is better than the other for the treatment of hair loss.
Heck... since data means nothing, studies mean nothing, and billions of dollars and 10 years of research means nothing ... make up your own dosing schedule and ask the magic 8 ball whether to take standardized or non standardized.
Good luck.
