I visited the salon to have a look at my hair system this morning. The base material (mono with poly rim and a lace hairline) was unexpectedly good. It was both light and soft, and undetectable through the hair. Now for the bad. The color did not match my bio hair well enough, so I brought up my concerns about blending and detectability. The salon owner understood, we initially chose the color partly because of my dark eyebrows thinking it would balance everything out better, but in this case a seamless blend would be impossible given that my hair is very light grey at the sides, bordering on white. Also, the system's hair is somewhat coarser than my bio-hair. My piece is 80% synthetic grey hair so hopefully texture is something that can be easily adjusted.
Nonetheless I was so impressed with the technology that I immediately placed another order for a lighter hair color, slightly higher hair density (medium-light rather than light), and finer hair texture to better match what I have. She gave me a 30% discount on the order.
All in all I am not terribly disappointed, I'll take this as part of the learning curve.
