Hey guys, Xaser94 here again with some great news. I feel like with all the recent excitement with Jak inhibitors at the recent conference and with all the recent treatments we are in a way getting spoiled but heres some more great news!

RiverTown Therapeutics is a clinical stage startup with a novel, topically applied prescription product that promotes the recruitment of new hair follicles, and/or rejuvenates existing follicles that have become dormant in humans with androgenic alopecia. The lead compound, RT1640 is a combination of three agents that together have thousands of people/years exposure in humans with excellent safety profiles. When applied to areas of hair loss (scalp, eyebrows, beard) RT1640 promotes the reanimation of hair follicles through the recruitment and differentiation of follicular stem cells, including melanocyte stem cells. As a result of these events, new hair grows over the bald areas. In addition, if the subject had achromotrichia (gray or white hair from color-loss) before hair loss, it grows back as pigmented hair. RT1640 has been tested in scores of animals and on seven humans with androgenic alopecia, all of whom have responded with hair growth. There are several follow-on indications beyond androgenic alopecia, including wound healing and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. All of the technologies rely on the company's proprietary technology of recruitment and differentiation of stem cells in situ.

The CEO is involved in a company called Gliamed, which deals with wound healing.

The Company’s small molecule lead drug candidate, GM1485, has been shown to induce autologous stem cells in vivo and to regenerate a variety of damaged tissues. Successfully regenerated tissues include: neurons, cardiac tissue, cartilage, blood vessels and others.

http://www.businesswire.com/news/ho...inical-Data-Demonstrating-Regeneration-Tissue

The company created small molecule compounds that retained the neuroregenerative properties of FK506 while eliminating its immunosuppressive activity. The discovery made by GliaMed’s founder was that these small molecules induced somatic cells to adopt a stem cell phenotype in vitro and that these induced stem cells could be made to differentiate into cells of different lineages, including muscle cells, neurons and glial cells. This class of small molecules has been termed “Regenerative Immunophilin Ligands” or RILs. Further research in animal models showed that administration of RILs in vivo by topical, oral or parenteral routes resulted in the generation of stem cell-like de-differentiated cells at the sites of trauma, and drove rapid and enhanced regeneration of a variety of tissues, including complex skin tissues, myocytes, bone and brain.

GliaMed has discovered that treating wounds with RILs tips the body’s healing system toward regeneration, resulting in a remarkable reformation of normal tissue at sites of damage. In animal studies, RIL-treated full-thickness wounds have been shown to fully heal and develop all the complex skin structures, including nerves, hair follicles, sweat glands, dermis and epidermis, in less than half the time of untreated wounds.

To date, GliaMed has shown compelling evidence in animal models that administration of GM1485 promotes:

  • Rapid regeneration of all components of skin following surgical wounding, resulting in complete wound healing with minimal scarring

I believe RiverTown therapeutics was only created this April. So information is still lacking. But maybe they are looking into a partnership via Follica and this is the compound they are trialing? Damn Im kinda jumping to conclusions but this is making sense in my head lmao. What do u guys think?

heres some more info on the CEO David Weinstein

http://www.rivertowntherapeutics.com/

their website is currently under construction.

bioRivertown.PNG

but according to this they are already in phase 2! look at the key first and then look near the last row under Theatre 2.

Their presentation should be on this page as a webcast, but unfortunately not all the companies who presented seem to have one up here. Maybe they will update it soon.

Great find! This could be available near-term if Congress would pass the 21st Century Cures Act.

I'm surprised there isn't more interest in this. It looks promising, I'd love to know how it works.

I think everyone is exhausted from all the new companies who never make it to phase 3, I cant blame them really. Or maybe its because there isnt much info out there regarding them. Either way Ill update this thread with any new info I get. And I really appreciate bringing attention to it, I believe hairlosscure2020 will on the next blog post as well. You guys rock!

NEW YORK, June 29, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mid-Atlantic Bio Angels (MABA) announces today that, for the first time in the three year history of its 1st Pitch Life Science competition, two companies tied in the voting for “Best in Show”: RiverTown Therapeutics, a clinical stage company developing a topical treatment for androgenic alopecia (a common form of hair loss in both men and women) and 6Degrees, developers of a device which enables amputees and others whose use of their hands is compromised to use computers and mobile devices via Bluetooth technology. The 1st Pitch Life Science competition was held on June 14, 2016 at Medidata in New York City.

“After the two companies presented, I thought that it would be a close vote,” said Stephen Goodman, a co-founder of MABA and a partner at the law firm of Pryor Cashman LLP. “Each of them described a compelling need and a unique solution. With a carefully thought out development and commercialization plan, each has the potential to generate significant returns for investors.”

RiverTown Therapeutics is developing a novel, topically applied prescription product that rejuvenates existing hair follicles that have become dormant in humans with androgenic alopecia. Its lead compound, RT1640, is a combination of three agents that together have thousands of people/years exposure in humans with excellent safety profiles. When applied to areas of hair loss (e.g., scalp, eyebrows, beard), RT1640 promotes the reanimation of hair follicles through the recruitment and differentiation of follicular stem cells, including melanocyte stem cells. As a result of these events, new hair grows in the bald areas.

“Hair regeneration and maintenance are complex processes that involve multiple pathways. The components in RT1640 restart the hair growth process and support the nascent and mature hair. The net result is the growth of new hair, even after decades of baldness,” said David E. Weinstein, MD, Ph.D., co-founder, CSO and CMO of RiverTown Therapeutics. “We are grateful for the recognition that Mid Atlantic Bio Angels gave to RiverTown. The panel’s feedback provided helpful confirmation of our business approach.”

All these individuals/companies declaring that their product regrows hair. Dr. Brotzu has always sounded resoundly adamant and now we have Dr. Weinstein making these claims.

Until I see it I remain skeptical. A wider question has to be why these Doctors make such claims. Are they true? If they are made up then these doctors need to take a long hard look at themselves. Personally if I was a Doctor I would never make up medical claims that weren't true. I hope these Docs think that way too.

a combination of three agents that together have thousands of people/years exposure in humans with excellent safety profiles.

So this uses natural ingredients?

Nobody truly knows yet

a combination of three agents that together have thousands of people/years exposure in humans with excellent safety profiles.

So this uses natural ingredients?

I dont think so. It says that the three agents have exposure in thousands of ppl, and for years, They could just be 3 drugs that people have been taking. If it was natural id assume it would be a cosmetic and it wouldnt make sense for them to go throught clinical trials like they are now.

I couldn't find any info about RT1640 online but we could try and find the patent or some information that will tells us which compounds they are using.
Should give us some insight into how effective this might be and whether we can come up with our own version of it.
