If after 3-4 months and I don't see improvement on my hairline I think I might take the plunge and try a stronger brand of minoxidil. Maybe try and find a minoxidil cream.

try some of the more experimental things like colostrum cream, thymosin b4 if you can get your hands on it, emu oil

Well lets get back on topic. So the legit suggestions so far are dutasteride and spectral dns. Anything else I can try? spironolactone? maybe finasteride isnt working on the hairline?

For various physiological reasons, the hairline is the most difficult place to stop balding and grow hair. I'd go with the maximum possible treatment, and use prescription Proxiphen (it won't be as expensive as you think, if all you're doing is applying part of the standard dose along the front hairline). Taking "Spectral DNS" seriously as a substitue for Proxiphen is ridiculous. Go with the real thing, Proxiphen.

>>>>> Be warned - you have a high risk to lose your gains on regular minoxidil if you switch to proxiphen.

I've just read a post in the private forum from a reputable guy who switched from regular minoxidil to prescription proxiphen and lost a lot of hair. He gave proxiphen 7 months, but could not recover. That is really bad, because regular minoxidil can do that after you resume it.

Proxiphen has a lower minoxidil content and may also compromise the regular minoxidil vehicle delivery due to the other substances in it.

So if you are on regular strength minoxidil - be very careful!!!!

I tend to agree, although not for the same exact reason. In my opinion, the form of minoxidil inside Proxiphen isn't very effective (using micro-crystallized minoxidil in a cream, instead of a solution in alcohol and propylene glycol). If someone has been using Rogaine for a long time, I wouldn't simply drop it before switching to Proxiphen. I'd use both of them together for a while. We've talked about doing that, even way back on alt.baldspot!

well I read in many places that finasteride may not work that well on the hairline... some people had to have success with other products..

Finasteride potentially works where ever there is hair on your head, even on the hairline. Don't take it from me, take it from Bernstein Medical.

Scroll all the way down.
