Consentyx is a biologic...not an inerte molecule, it won't ever be cheap...
You have to search for another IL-17 inhibitor who are not a biologic.

You have to search for another IL-17 inhibitor who are not a biologic.

IL-17A is an interleukin, a 17050 Dalton protein directly synthesized from mRNA, so it's not feasible to "block" it like an enzymatic reaction (i.e. 5-alpha reductases). There's simply no point to attack using a drug. That's why extremely expensive biologic agents were developed, they have pinpoint accuracy.

what could be blocked, however, is upstreaming signals invoking the release of IL-17A.... but if researchers working on terrible diseases like psoriasis haven't found it, I don't think Androgenetic Alopecia researchers will have the same funding/meanings.

"Topical treatment for psoriaris includes application of coal tar, dithranol, retinoids, corticosteroids and vitamin D3 analogues. Systemic treatment includes phototherapy, methotrexate, cyclosporine, retinoids and biological agents. Despite many options, many patients do not respond to therapy or report side effects. Thus, new drugs are still being searched for.. "

"Secukinumab is a recombinant fully human IgG1/kappa monoclonal antibody and is manufactured in chinese hamster ovary cells."

Mice study after mice study and they were the cure all along.

On a serious note though, this kind of thing is what makes me think Aclaris is on the right track.

whatever, if it works, price is dropping fast anyway. Also, knowing that something really works and you just need to save money is definitely helping.
Yeah true but even if the price drops by half, the majority of us won’t be affording it

It would be nice just to get 2 injections a month and not have to bother with all the crap we have to do now! I am guessing that £2k per month is going to be out of reach for most of us though. Maybe they will take pity on our poor bald asses and reduce the cost one day!

I'd probably shell out $4K for two months' worth and see if I saw any effect. If I did, I'd prostitute myself for a year's supply lol.

"We provide evidence that metformin attenuates the induction of EAE by restricting the infiltration of mononuclear cells into the CNS, down-regulating the expression of proinflammatory cytokines (IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-6, IL-17, and inducible NO synthase (iNOS))"

That's why I'm really interested in Metformin ... I read some good reviews about it (and some bad) ...

https://www.selfhacked.com/blog/th17/ we could try some "natural" or cheaps or easy-to-get alternatives

I think I'm going to try Metformin, I'm already NWD 5 diffuse with insane itchy scalp, nothing much left to lose.

All the good sh*t costs a kidney.
Tsuji is going to cost $137,000. Good luck unless you’re loaded.

that's f*****g insane. Maybe in a year or 2, I might be able to afford it but that's still a lot even if I was a millionaire...

At the very least this shows that gray hair can be reversed. Thats huge by itself. I wonder why a cosmetic company hasnt jumped on this research?

There's been research on gray hairs for years now, L'Oreal TRP-2, Pseudocatalase PC-KUS, scams or nothing hit the market.

Only drugs that accidentaly worked were immunotherapy ones, like CsA, Keytruda, Opdivo and Tecentriq, with potentially nasty long term sides.
And more recently IRF4 and KROX20 genes have been identified.

Mayumi Ito, one of the Cotsarelis fav co-worker has done many papers on Melanocyte regulation and Wnt signaling, not that simple

Interleukin-17 is no exception

Better try to keep that sh*t topical heh ?

I'm almost to the point now to where I think reversing gray hair is harder than creating new hair. Hair loss is a disorder that doesn't affect everyone while graying hair is going to get everyone eventually. You would almost have to turn back the hands of time to stop graying.
Besides, the market on a gray hair cure is infinitely larger than balding cure, and still nobody has an answer.
Either way. f*** life

Another problem is getting rid of the dying market, l'Oreal is making billions on it every years, and yet they tried to find a daily pill to stop and/or reverse it, shooting a bullet in their own foot.

But yeah, most recent discoveries suggest that graying is almost entirely linked to immune system.
Medicine is just scraching the surface regarding immuno-therapy.

Who cares about gray hair.
having grey hairs in the early 30s is not what people wish.
With a full head of hairs and no grey hairs you just avoid all the "hair and bald jokes"
