actually i live in newyork. sorry im not really sure what nizerol is? its a shampoo that blocks dht in the scalp that gets washed out correct?
this can also be used in conjunction with the spironolactone cream 5% ?
does it work? thanks
nizoral doesn't block any dht as far as i know. there really isn't a sure reason why it works but in a study it was found to work about as well as 2% minoxidil at increasing hair counts and thickening the hair. that's why nizoral is part of the "big 3" regimen advised on here coupled with finasteride and minoxidil.
Nizoral's active ingredient is ketoconazole. Dr Lee's regrowth treatment shampoo is 2% ketoconazole mixed with salicylic acid which he claims promotes better absorption. I'd think that nizoral would absorb fine by itself and it is a waste of money to buy his shampoo.
1% ketoconazole was found to be as effective as 2% so you might as well just go with that like I said. I am in New York like you and you can buy a 7 oz bottle of Nizoral for $15 at any local supermarket chain or pharmacy. You may even be able to find a cheaper, just as effective generic version right next to it.
You should use it every 3 days, about, and lather it into your scalp. Leave it in for 5 minutes and then rinse it out. It works fine with spironolactone because you don't apply spironolactone in the shower. Just towel your hair dry and then you can apply the spironolactone.
