Regimen Change - 4 Months In And Still Receding

I was a customer of the Belgravia Centre in London for a year with great results. During that time I was on 1mg finasteride and 2x1ml minoxidil 5% + medroxyprogesterone (MPG) 0.0125% a day and had a laser comb treatment every 3 months, however after a year I decided that it was too expensive so switched to finasteride and regaine bought from doctorfox.co.uk for half the price. As soon as I started the new regimen I began to lose hair.

4 months later I am still losing hair and am quickly receding back to where I was at the beginning of the whole process. I can't work out if this is some kind of shed or if my new regimen is simply not effective. My head definitely feels like it did 1.5 years ago (constant dull pain and itching).

This is a list of every single change from my old regimen to the new one:

1) Pharmacy it comes from
2) Brand of generic finasteride
3) Brand of minoxidil
4) MPG in minoxidil
5) Application method of minodixil (old was 1ml syringe, new is spray)
6) Use of laser comb

I don't think the first 2 changes should make a difference so think it is probably due to the change in minoxidil (or perhaps the laser comb although less convinced by this). Any advice on the likely cause of this and whether it is likely to be a shed or permanent hairloss would be much appreciated.

If you know for certain, all you new stuff is legit, then I would say you might be going thru a shed. However, maybe the minoxidil is slightly different and your application method is not getting enough minoxidil on the scalp.

I'm almost certain the new stuff is legit. How long could a shed last if it is one? Also is this likely if I didn't have a shed at all when I first started minoxidil? I'm just not sure whether to wait it out with the current regimen for a couple more months or to switch to something like regaine foam instead.

Shed cycles sometimes last 3 to 6 months. I would wait it out and make sure you are getting the minoxidil into the scalp. Just hope its a shed and not your hair loss getting more aggressive.

Ok thanks, I'll wait it out hopefully it's a shed. With the liquid spray is it best to rub it in fully or to move it around gently and then let it soak in? + is it worth using nizoral shampoo, have been considering it for a while?

I'm also interested to know the answer to this as considering Minoxidil and Nizoral shampoo myself.

Does not hurt to use a shampoo like Revita that has alot of ingredients in it to help fight hair loss. A multi angle approach to treat hair loss is worth a try.

Interesting you mention Revita, I bought it bcos of its ingredients (and its more natural than nizoral) but all it did was cause more shedding than i already had. Do you use Revita yourself and if so does shedding ever reduce? I still have a cpl unopened bottles, could give it another shot! Thanks

I use Revita too. Not every day though. Shedding alot of times means your treatment is working too. So don't always think its a bad thing. I know it sucks to lose any hair.

Everyone responds differently. When you used it, was that all you used?

Yes at the time it was the only thing i was using. Ive read (i think on here somewhere) that some ppl had success using it less often than it says. Maybe that's thr way forward for me..
