questions about hair piece for a younger guy

hello , so Ill start off by saying I am looking for advice about if I would be a good candidate for a hair piece. right now I am 18 and my hair loss is not TO bad however , by the time I reach my 20s I have a feeling I may be completely bald, given my family history of early balding and my diffuse thinning currently.

The thing is, I wish I could just accept thats how I am going to look but I have a feeling I will look like an alien. I have a rather large head, I am fairly short ( 5'6) and I am pale . my body fat is low (15%) which sounds great, the thing is I still have a chubby looking face. now I dont think being bald goes good with having a roundish face.

So I have came to the conclusion that a hairpiece would be better for me since I am decent looking with hair. but I have some questions.

1. how much time do you spend daily/ weekly on it?
2. do you feel people notice?
3. would it be a bad idea for a young person like me to get one ?

thanks for taking the time to read this I really appreciate any answers because I am pretty depressed about this hair loss thing right now.

If your hair isn't too bad, then why not just maintain your hair by using finasteride. A hair piece is a last resort when your natural hair is unsalvagable. If you still have good hair, why not pop a pill every day and keep it?

pretty much this. hair pieces are a last resort, and given you age I don't think it's in your best interests to transition this early on.

Give finasteride a try.

what areas would be helpful to see pictures of? when I pull my hair apart I can see alot of my scalp but my normal hair style covers it up pretty well.

and I was told by the dermatologist that because of my age I should not take finasteride yet. I have been using rogaine but I dont have high hopes for it.

would finasteride be ok for an 18 year old to take?

I am not super thrilled about getting a hair peice either, it is kind of a last resort but I think it is very likely I will be completely bald in my 20s.

Hairline, and an over head shot would be good.

Finasteride is fine at 18. Would be surprised how much ground you can recover from finasteride.

Lol dude, you have a great full head of hair with very minor diffuse at the crown.

Finasteride is the best approach to take in your situation. Should recover a lot of ground, and thicken your native surrounding hair.

Take this for six months, then reevaluate your situation, and approach.

my hair is pretty thin thats why I am worried about it.

also my genetics. multiple family members went bald in their early 20s

Ill look into finasteride though , see if I can get a prescription. I am just worried about any kind of long term sides

Giving up on a great head of hair at this stage would be madness. You caught your hair loss at the perfect time. Letting yourself go bald and wearing a wig would just be... disgusting...

Your hair is not thin. Its normal density through out. Crown is thinning but should recover in due time

Finasteride, then reevaluate in six months

Well to be fair I didn't want to get a peice yet , just thinking 5 years down the road

I agree my hair isn't to bad yet , but if it is starting this young it will progress at a younger age also

I do want to try finasteride , I only recently turned 18 and the dermatologist told me it isn't a good idea to take before I'm 20ish because I'm still growing? Idk, this was kind of troubling to hear. But I'd be willing to take it if it could help me maintain what I have for another 10 years

I agree with earlier posters - it is too early for you to be thinking of hair replacement. Try meds (but stop if you get significant side effects) and/or scalp concealers like Toppik first.

1) It will took a lot of time of yours because you always concentrate on hair piece rather than any other work.
2) Yeah people will notice each and every thing specially hair piece or related to this activity.
3) A younger man of just 18 does not suit a hair piece because it doesn't impact good for younger personality.

Your hair looks great Fanjeera, although you might want to look at getting a graduated density hairline at the front on your next piece, for increased realism.

How have your friends and family reacted?

I second that. Well done for making the leap, but lower density at the front for a more graduated look is the next aim.

Do hair pieces with bangs look realistic at all? That is how I prefer to wear my hair because of my forehead

Sure; if you have bangs that makes it easier to achieve a realistic look, because you don't have to worry too much about the hairline, which is one of the more difficult aspects.

i'm young as well, but damn this kind of hair is worth buying a piece. there's no other way to get model tier hair.

That's very unnatural looking. It literally looks like a wall of hair on a receding hairline. that's two red flags to not having a natural looking appearance.

need a graduated hairline with semi-see through looking hair at the front that has the appearance of growth out of the scalp.

where did you buy your hair piece?

A bit of courtesy along with the criticism would be good here. This is a small beginner's problem which can easily be fixed.
