I've always wondered that once you have placed the lace front down and got 'buried' in a little bit of glue and it's cured for a little while. Can you not apply a VERY VERY thin layer of glue on the 3-4mm part of the VERY front of the lace that is often the first to lift. I know you should never apply glue to lace directly but this is like a kind of seal for the VERY front of the hairline. As long as you keep it very thin and don't go too far up the lace, it should be easy enough to clean with cotton wool eventually I would have thought and really minimise any lift.
