After reading several posts here, i concluded that propecia can have an adverse affect on the hairline.. I for one, have been on it exactly 3 months today and my hairline has gone to the dump... has anyone who had bad experiences with propecia on the harline recovered from it after a few months?

I'm on my third month as well. I didn't take before pics(should probably get around to it) but i died my hair a month ago and now there's some normal color hairs growing inbetween the pink hair.... i don't know if it's regrowth or not but my hairline seems at least the same as it was at the start.

your lucky... propecia seemed to have accelerated my hair loss... before i was a thinner.. now my hairline recession is completely obvious... and i dont think its just a coinciedence... what is confusing me, is that i did not exp any thinning.. just great hair to nothing but small vellus-type hair.. perhaps they will get longer??

You hair will get worse before it can get better. That's my view... stick with it if you don't get sides...

Normally you will shed some hair with propecia. Then it will just grow back thicker and thicker. It takes time.

I stopped taking finasteride because of the foggyness in my head. My hair actually looks great at the moment but I guess that won't last long. Maybe through the summer it will have an affect.

i am actually noticing non-pigmented hairs popping in some areas of shed.. some are getting longer... however, they are colorless.. what up with that? what freaks me out is that i used to be a blonde, now my hair is dark brown.. these new hairs could be thin hairs, or overgrown vellus hairs, or maybe my original blonde hairs? i tihnk not

re:

Jfrank, do you have before and after photos to back up your claim. Otherwise it is useless.

re:

Take 35mm and scan them in or just have htem for your own evidence. I guess it is too late, but I cannot tell people how important before and after photos are. They are a way to tell whether a treatment is helping, hurting or maitiaining soone can adjust their treatment if need be.

cause it abruptly happened after two weeks of propecia use... and in less than two weeks, there was a noticable difference in the hairline density... ( I wear a hat backwards, and everyday i noticed less hair peaking out from the hat strap)

Three years for me so far... worked for sure... probably mainly maintaining, but this three month analysis is silly... just forget about it... take your pills like you would clean your teeth for the next year, stop worrying about your sex drive and then decide... so many people want results after a month... not going to happen. I just took it for 2 years without thinking about it too much and that was great... Stop analysing it every day and wait till you wake up one day and say... "sh*t, this is working". Or if you prefer not swearing say "wow, this is working" Two great choices...

My whole hairline/top went to the crapper in 3 months. I went from the hairstylist making a comment about how thick my hair was and actually thinning the top to seeing scalp all over in an male pattern baldness pattern. It all came as a shock to me and if it can happen that quickly to me I can imagine your scenario happening without propecia. I have been on finasteride for a week and minoxidil for 2 and it looks like sh*t is getting worse for me but maybe its just me not being used to seeing my head in such a state.

I think you should take Melbs advice and just ignore it as best you can for the next 3 -9 months and see what happens. Hopefully I can get myself to follow that advice too, but the mirror is so f*****g addictive.

WAY too early to judge the results of finasteride. Hang in there. Do some research, you'll see that male pattern baldness infected follicles can shed at first and produce healthier follicles during the resting phase. At three months, you haven't even used finasteride. for one resting phase! (And these infected hairs oftentimes have to recycle many times before producing healthy follicles. Note: male pattern baldness shrunken follicles recycle faster than normal healthy follicles. Plus they stay in the resting phase longer, relative to how long they are in the growing phase.)

One to two years minimum before judging finasteride. If you aren't willing to wait that amount of time you shouldn't have started to use finasteride. in the first place.
