Hey guys I've been on finasteride for 4 months now and before I was an NW2 with thick hair, now it seems I'm thinning in the NW3/4 region with my scalp visible behind temples in the light, this is beyond depressing

I even Havw pics to prove for anyone that doesnt believe finasteride can accelerate hair loss

How old are you? and would you say your hair loss is aggressive? It could be a 'shed' but the same thing happened to me where I lost more hair the year I was on finasteride than the previous four! Maybe stick with it a few more months as four months is too early to assess whether its working and then take something stronger if you need it like dutasteride and ru.

finasteride will not make your hair worse than it would be otherwise longterm

It does look like its got worse, some people are non responders to finasteride. When people say 83% people retain hair on finasteride they are referring to the crown/mid scalp, some people retain hairline but it is a lot less than 83% as frontal/temporal loss is more aggressive and there is debate whether other androgens play a role not just DHT. As your loss is frontal then its less likely to work there. Maybe improve your regimen and add minoxidil/RU58841

No I started finasteride in Feb 2014 and my hair has gotten steadily wore since then

I know its hard but the best thing you can do is keep taking the finasteride, theres no way it can make your hair worse.

If you have lost hair ( its unclear from the pics) then there are 2 possible reasons 1, its just a shed or 2, you were destined to lose that hair anyway. Either way you should keep taking the finasteride as 4 months is early days.

In the first year of me taking finasteride im sure my hair looked worse at times but eventually it improved, it took 2 years before I could be sure it was working

It's a coincidence. finasteride would NEVER accelerate hair loss. You might be in that 10% minority where finasteride slows it down but not stops it. Or could be a shed as the guy above me said.

I have been on it over 2 months, only seeing improvement. No shed. Baby hairs past hairline, another 2-3 today.

Dose?

4 months is nothing. In fact, it's expected that you get worse than before at that time frame.
