Who here has tried Promox and what are your general views on it?

I can't handle the side effects of Xandrox 15% Plus so I'm thinking of moving on to Promox 5%. From Xandrox 15% Plus I got a bloated red,itchy face. I believe it was the high concentration of minoxidil.

So has anyone had good results on the Promox?

I have used Promox and it caused me to shed a lot on it and the retin-a caused me some itchiness. I think the lotion is better to use than the liquid because it causes less drying and itchiness. I would get it without retin-a since that will irritate your scalp and give you more sides from both topicals. When I was using it my hair was shedding alot so I don't know for sure if it increased the shedding. I have this area that has lost alot of density in the front. I quit Promox last year after using it 3 weeks. I just recently started with the lotion again for that area I lost the most density. So far no irritation after using it for about 3 to 4 days. If that area comes back better than I know it works. I don't want to use minoxidil at 15 percent but supposedly with retin-a added to minoxidil in Promox it acts pretty close to that. So do not get it with retin-a. You have to special request that from Dr Klein. Its expensive but worth a try. If I were you, I would try Proxiphen before I try Promox. However Proxiphen has not been able to save my hair in the frontal area and I have used it for over a year now. I also take Propecia. I am fighting with everything but still not winning.

Are you sure you're not winning the fight Dr H? You mentioned in an earlier thread that you're obsessed with your hair, it's easy to lose perspective when you're staring at your hair all the time...Do you take photos or anything like that to compare?

That aside, i've recently burned some more cash on the skinbiology website, and purchased, among other things, some emu oil, this helps with inflammation/dryness, but is very useful before applying minoxidil, as this helps increase the absorption rate. May be worth while looking in to if retin a causes some probs, although I notice that helps absorption too.

In most people's perspective, I am winning the fight because I still have better hair than most for my age but the hair transplant doctor assured me that I do have some loss in density. He did not use the word miniaturization. Is miniaturization the same as losing density or are they different???? Do you know? Bryan? Anyone?

I don't know where you are getting the idea that there is retin-A in it , Are you thinking of Remox?

If you were a doctor, I would be happy to show you. However, you are not and your opinion will be just like the rest of the people on this forum and this is what you will say: You have great hair for your age so why are you even here. My hair is like Kiel's but his is much thicker in density. Remember what s.a.f said, most people with BDD tend to have good hair. He is definitely right about that. We just want hair like Patrick Dempsey not like that guy Johnny B on the other thread( although some of you would want his hair over yours).

Promox contains Minoxidil and Finasteride, so does XandroxPlus. I doubt you'll have less side effects with it =/. Btw, the you didn't say that your face was bloated too... Sure this isn't just in your imagination?

As Bryan said, tretinoine is also know as Retin-A. You can use a dropper instead of a spray. I used a dropper with the liquid. Ask him for a dropper for the liquid. The lotion is a very light cream that is not too thick. Its similar to the liquid but slightly thicker. However, if you prefer using the dropper then go with the liquid. But get it without tretinoine. Otherwise, you will get more systemic absorption than you would without it.

is this a reliable product? i been on this forum for awhile now and this is the first I have seen of this!

Last year before Xandrox Plus came out, this product was "all the rage" for a while. Alot of people claim they got regrowth from it in the front where other products failed them. At least the products go on clean like Dr Lee's and are not greasy. I think Dr Lee added finasteride to his Xandrox to compete with Dr Klien's Promox. Its worth a try if you can afford it. If you go to HLH, there are alot of threads about it. Also on regrowth.com, you will find some threads on it too. The problem most complained about is how the retin-a caused the hair to shed more and caused redness and irritated the scalp. Retin-a is a chemical peel that increases the absorption of minoxidil and finasteride. I still would try Proxiphen before Promox only because Proxiphen will not irritate your scalp and is alcohol free.

hmm well i was interested in dr. lee's #600 which has a. acid in it but no retin a which should be a good thing. i dont think retin a helps that much....(does more harm than good)
