Possible to go from norwood 3 to one of the "A" norwood types?

Have attached an image. ATM I am somewhere around II (on this diagram), maybe a tiny bit further. However I seem to have miniturised hair that would suggest I am losing the "forelocks" areas in the middle of my forehead. Is it possible to start out balding in the typical pattern, and then when you get to norwood 2 or 3, it starts to follow the "Anterior Pattern" instead?

Not everyone will fit perfectly in one specific pattern. Some may have various patterns that maybe a combination of different patterns.

How old are you? It's hard to predict for certain but I think by the time you reach 50 years old, you might have a better understanding of what direction you will take.
Well atm I'm 18 lol, so if my hair didn't change until I was 50 that would be great. No one I know of in my family is bald, and my Dad (55) has the same hairline I currently do, so I had assumed that was just how my families hair is, and it would stay like that (which would be fine, I don't mind a norwood 2 or even 3 really) It's just the weird shorter hair in the middle that I'm concerned about, incase the fact that it's miniturized and shorter indicates it's going to fall out.

I don't know what your future is going to be like but if my hair looked like yours when I was 18, I would be very concerned. Have you seen a hair loss specialist about your situation.

I haven't as everything is closed atm because of the pandemic. Why specifically would you be concerned (I'm concerned, just wondering which bit of it would concern you)? Would it be the temples or the weird shorter bit at front?

Tbh I'm not sure what a hair loss specialist would do, other than prescribe me finasteride or whatever the brand name is, and I don't really want to take that as the side effects aren't worth it. I would probably wear a hair system if my hair gets worse, but I am a bit concerned about the chemicals in the glues being toxic.

The temples seem receded more than most guys your age and your hair density is low but it maybe naturally low. In my area we have so many hispanics and they have low NW1 with super thick hair and hairlines that I guess my threshold of what hair should be at your age has changed. If you really don't want to use treatments than I guess you just have to hope it never gets worse.

Yeah thin hair (as in the individual strands) runs in my family I think, and the temples too. Only thing I'm worried about is the bit in the middle at the front. Is it possible my hair just grows like that or something? It just seems weird, at first I thought I might have rubbed it out or something by accident, but it gradually gets longer as it gets further in which is odd right?

To me, you look like in the early stage of male pattern baldness with diffuse thinning. For your sake, I hope I am wrong.

What indicates the diffuse thinning? Is it the front or just all of it?

I assume if you have diffuse thinning (is that where it just gets thinner everywhere?), then more hair than usual would fall out? (As I don't think that's happening)

The front and overall density. Just remember, in male pattern balding, your shedding amounts may be normal but each time your hair grows back it grows back finer and finer and you density will decrease. My hair shedding is about the same but my density is decreasing as the hairs growing back are not as thick as they used to be. In my case, aging and male pattern baldness are both working together and on top of that I have thyroid issues. Most 18 year olds with no balding will not have have that looks like yours. My suggestion is to start paying attention to your peers( your age group) and see how may guys have the same issue as yourself. At this point, I don't thin I can offer you anymore advise but to see a hair loss specialist to confirm your situation. Good luck to you.
