Please Tell Me What’s Going On With My Hair??

Hey guys, i’m a new member, please go easy!

I’ve been having alot of trouble with my hair recently (receding) and i decided yesterday to buzz it all off and see how it looks. Unfortunately it seems to have revealed a rather suspicious looking thinning/balding patch at my crown...

I’ve asked a few people about it and they promise me its just the lighting and the shape of my head (as i have a slight bump where the apparent thinning patch is) - however i’m not convinced and seek some outside perspective. Hopefully you guys can give me some insight and tell me where i’m at - and wether i should be worrying or not.

Pictures attached...

Some more info - i have absolutely no hair loss in the family... and my hairline has always been relatively high since i was a child, I’m 27 years old and fairly healthy - i think :)

Thanks very much in advance guys!

Doubts

Have you been losing a lot of hair lately before buzzing it? It could be a result of a telogen effluvium instead of androgenetic alopecia or maybe your hair has never had much density there. I would go to a dermatologist.

Thinning on the crown is just one :

Male pattern baldness.

Welcome to the club.

It doesn't matter if your family has hair loss or not.
I don't have any bald-headed family members either.
I got hit anyway.

I have noticed more hair fall in the shower over the last few months... and i have been undergoing ALOT of stress over the last year or so... Is crown thinning a symptom of telogen effluvium??

slight thinning in your late twenties is completely normal. contrary to what hollywood would have you believe, most people don’t keep a dense mop throughout all of adulthood.

it happens. doesn’t mean you will be a cue ball. you still have full coverage which is something to be grateful for.

Get on finasteride that is male pattern baldness. Luckily for you finasteride works best at the crown.

Thanks for the comment... Can you elaborate on how/why you came to that conclusion? Are there any other signs? I don’t disagree, i’m just trying to rule out as much as possible :)

Thinning on the crown. Probably one of the least bad forms of male pattern baldness. Consider yourself lucky that you mostly have thinning on the crown and minimal recession in the hairline.

@Alfonso

From these pictures, you don't seem to have baldness.

If I had hair density like yours, I would grow mine out a little bit.

That's one advantage you have over guys your age. There's not many full heads at 27 (
by that, less than Norwood 2).

You're gracefully balding. which is good for a balding dude.

Get a new barber, his lineups are trash..

Looks like male pattern baldness to me
Haha i buzzed it myself mate... thats why its quite patchy at the back. Gonna get it tidyed up today. Hopefully he has some magic barbering trick to conceal the thinning bit! :/
