Hi forum members,

Judging by the pics, would you advise that I start on finasteride?
Underwent alot of stress 2 years ago, and currently on Vitamin D supplements.
Current age is 29.5 years.

Hairline looks great but you do have some early crown thinning. finasteride would be wise.

Thank you for the reply Andy. Appreciate it.
Here are additional pictures of me at age 21 and age 24 respectively. I've noticed obvious recession, but I'm unable to determine if it's a hairline that's maturing or a receding hairline with early onset of male pattern baldness.

Regarding fina, I'm dreading going through the shedding phase and then getting hit with the side effects. Will that mean that I lose my current hair - since the sides hit and I discontinued, ego I wont be able to regrow my hair back?

early crown thinning? he's 30 and barely even has any noticeable loss in his crown. I had to squint my eyes.

It might be a cowlick then?

my honest guest is that you are at the very early signs of thinning. But, if you've made it to 30 with THAT density, my personal opinion would be to wait a couple more years before jumping on something as toxic as finasteride. start with minoxidil.

Is there any way I can regrow my hairline with fina? I know it might not go back to a juvenile hairline, but I just want to fill it in and/or lower it because of my large forehead. I'm hoping my follicles haven't died in the last 2 years wherein I've experienced noticeable hair loss and fina might pump some life into them.

Right, thank you for the advice.
Q about rogaine, if I stop using rogaine after say 2 years, will my hair return to the current state that is now, and THEN continue balding as dictated by my genes, or will there be a massive shed? Asking because I've read minoxidil's effectiveness starts to wear off eventually. And I don't know if I can handle the irritation for life, atleast a decade or so( sensitive scalp).

No one actually knows. people speculate all they want. I would just get a generic version of the foam and use it once a day.

I personally feel why the people on this forum don't opt for a hairtransplant!
Any opinions?

It will take 10-15 years for you to hit norwood5-6
If you would start finasteride right now, you will be able to keep maximum hair.

If I can hold onto my hair till 45-50 with mild recession, then I will just go bald gracefully after that. Transplants are invasive and quite expensive. Most videos I watch, people need 2.5k+ grafts, that's easily $10,000. And from whatever I gather reading online articles, hair transplant surgeons will want to stabilize and predict hair loss pattern , so they will put you on fina and/or minoxidil anyways. So why not just do the latter and see if you respond well, might as well save the hassle, money and time getting a transplant.

He’s 21 and comments on literally every post saying they have male pattern baldness like he’s a top hair specialist.

That’s the big problem with this forum

In india you can get a hairtransplant from a famous surgeon at around $800-$900, maximum it may go upto $1100 for 2.5k-3k grafts
