For all the people who think your too old to start to get some results, think again. I will be 44 years old in two months and was very skeptical about putting the time, money and energy into a problem that I had since I was in my 20s but I stuck with the big three for about eight months now and I have to say I am glad I hung in there. I have not had alot of regrowth but my hairloss has stopped so far and I would be happy just to maintain what I have and anything else is a bonus, I just wish I started sooner. Your story sounds just like mine.

I’m 40 y/o. I’ve been on treatment for 15 months and still regrowing, slowly, but regrowing. My temples are getting filled, and I think that in six months they will be completely grown.

My problem is my hairline. I’m not growing to much hair in there.
At least I’ll look like I have a mature hairline and not a Norwood#.

If it’s possible for 40 y/o to regrow, then I´m sure many younger guys could regrow or maintain as well.

Actually, it's the other way around. If it's possible for younger guys to regrow or maintain, than many 40 year olds should have no problem. male pattern baldness is at its most aggressive in the 30 and under population. Just read all the posts from nonresponders to Propecia, Minoxidil, and all the hopeless cases of diffuse thinners. Like myself.

I agree with doug douglas, From my experience the younger you are when it starts the more more aggresive and extensive your hairloss will be. I've seen many guys who start losing it at 18 and are a full nw6/7 by age 28. And the guys who begin receeding in their 30's/40's dont normally ever progress past nw3.

My best friend had the thickest hair I’ve ever seen and he began loosing his hair around 35, now he’s a NW6.

I'd be fairly positive if I were in your position. I've seen guys young at nw2/nw3 who had agressive hairloss that appeared to be heading for nw6/nw7 stopped dead after a few months on meds. Unfortunatly neither dutasteride or finasteride seem to have any effect on the front third but seem to maintain the mid and crown areas for the majority of users. Since you are young and in the early stages the fact that you found meds already should help you greatly.

There definatly are no rules with m.p.b but this is the most common trend that I've noted.

the bosley Doctor said finasteride is 10% as strong in front as in the back. My front seems to be staying put, though.

I wish I did not have to use all these topicals. They can get annoying. I'm going to try to use each one once a day eventaully, especially after my grafts grow out.

I’m also getting tired of applying so many topicals. It takes a lot of my time.

First wash hands, then wash hair, then apply Retin-A, wash hands, wait 1 hour, apply minoxidil, wash hands, wait 10 minutes, apply Copper peptides, wash hands, wait 10 minutes, apply Emu oil, wash hands, pray for all of this to work.

I’m seriously thinking of finishing all of my existing supplies (in 5-6 months) and then just stay with the big 3.

I’m applying so many chemicals to my hair that I should start wearing a T-shirt with the warning: “Radioactiveâ€￾ or “Extremely Flammableâ€￾.

merk tested the back and the mid section. I dont' know which is which, but it was 83% effective in one and 66% effective in the other (people who at least maintained). I don't think I'm mixing the 66% up with minoxidil, which I think was 59%, but very good in those 59%.

I'm going to guess 83% in back and 66% on top if those were the numbers. It probably gets easier to maintain/regrow hair the farther you go back on the head. Front hairline is hardest, then top, then the crown is the easiest.. I thought the 66% merck number was the number that regrow on Propecia over a 2 yr period, or am I wrong?

I remember seeing 83% maintained on Propecia over a 2 yr period, and 66% regrew. Here's what I wonder though. Is that 66% of the 83% that regrew? Or is it 66% of the entire group that regrew? 66% of 83% is like 54%. But 66% of 100% is 66%. I was never clear about that.

As for the minoxidil 59%, do you think most of the people who had success regrowing from minoxidil were people who were in the early stages of hair loss, compared to like NW5s and NW6s with dormant follicles? Like do you think the level of success on minoxidil increases if you have more hair generally?
