how do you place the unit? in hairdirect they suggest doing it differently than in my local hair salon where they rather do it like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzwWcZYORog
hd says the piece should touch the scalp at about the same time which is opposite to that rolling movement they do in salons. they fold it inside out and then attach the front first.

which is the best way? i find that when i try to lower the whole unit on my head all at once like hd suggests, hair gets stuck under the system. how do you do it?

That is a slightly weird video in all sorts of ways. He doesn't seem to be using any adhesive, for one - just balancing the piece on his big egg-shaped head.

I think the best way is to hold the ends of your hairline between the thumb and index finger of you two hands, with the back of the piece folded up and back, hanging over the back of your hands. Then you very carefully place the centre of the hairline on the adhesive, then work out from the centre of the hairline to the temples, gradually placing the two sides of the hairline. Then, when you have the hairline perfectly positioned, work backwards down the hairpiece to the back of your head. If there are going to be any wrinkles or overlaps, you want them to be at the back of the piece, where they are least likely to be seen or felt.

There are plenty of videos of people doing this on YouTube, although I have noticed that a lot of the salons cut the piece too big, so that there is overlap with the growing hair. That is wrong - the base of the piece should be fractionally smaller than your bald or shaved area, so that there is no overlap.

damn it. this might be the reason why my hairline lifts after a few days. i tape the side and back perimeter and then do the front with liquid adhesive afterwards, so all the wrinkles come in to the frontal flap probably that way. thank you! very helpful information again.

There are no hard and fast rules, but I don't think that video's method is very practical. It stands to reason that the hairline deserves the most care, and if there are any wrinkles or overlaps they should be at the back where they're hidden.
