Over masturbation

The reason excess masturbation or sexual activity trigerring or causing male pattern baldness as a theory is slammed down all the time is either because people dont want to quit(understandably), or because it would put the male pattern baldness industry out of business.

If male pattern baldness sufferers cut down their sexual activity by 70% then their hair would stop minutarising and begin to thicken again.

male pattern baldness business out of business.

Any medical evidence to support this position? Studies? Journals? Peer reviewed experiments?

Yeah, this theory gets slammed here... but so do all of the theories or treatments that are touted here without any scientific backing.

no there is a lot of validity to this. and HUGH HEFNER? you know he has a LOT of hair loss, now. Jesus! It's logical: OVER masturbation (not "normal" amounts of it) CAN CERTAINLY affect hair loss. In addition, it can cause more sebum, because of the heat it produces for your scalp without circulation. Guess where all the blood goes instead of your scalp? Plus, it burns up testosterone. Every once in a while is fine, but seven times a day? If you do it very often, you better pray that your genes don't have a hypersensitivity to DHT! lol.

I always figured you could masturbate 50 times a day and not lose a single hair if you don't have the male pattern baldness gene. I think it's a little different for people who have the gene for aggressive hairloss. Ejaculating too much (not just masturbating) may make the hairloss present itself quicker or happen faster.

That's just my theory on the subject. I think it plays a bigger role than most people think but it won't do anything at all unless your genes allow it to.

Dude, Hugh Hefner is 84 years old!? And he still has a very age-appropriate hairline. How many people have ANY semblance of a hairline at 84? Most people would be LUCKY to have Hugh's hairline at 84, and he's always had a decent if not very good head of hair.

In addition, it can cause more sebum, because of the heat it produces for your scalp without circulation.
How does masturbating cause heat on your scalp? Or sebum?

Guess where all the blood goes instead of your scalp?
First off, the body has mechanisms to moderate a relatively constant blood pressure all across your vascular system. Second, if, as you say, blood is flowing AWAY from your scalp, then the follicles would be attacked by less DHT, as DHT travels in the blood, no? Third, if there is less blood flowing to the scalp, then why would the scalp get warmer? If anything, warm blood flowing from the body's core helps maintain body temperature, when blood flow is reduced, temperature COOLS, not gets warmer.

Plus, it burns up testosterone.
How does masturbation "burn up testosterone"?

Masturbation is physical exertion, and muscular exertion. This may burn blood sugar, but I have yet EVER to hear of ANY scenario where physical exertion is supported through the burning of hormones. Hormones aren't burned by muscles! Sugar and fat are! And, in contradiction to your assertion, muscle exercise has been shown not to reduce testosterone, but actually, it INCREASES testosterone.

Where on earth do you guys get this stuff? Makes no sense.

Ive watched a lot of p**rn and the majority of pornstars are definitely thinning.

Now i dont claim to be a scientist but i am a good observer and i can learn quite well even though im a little lazy.

>Think about it. Ejaculation releases semen which contains key minerals that are also required for healthy hair. The body must go through so much strain in order to replenish these fluids everytime you orgasm, and also depriving your hair of these goodies.

>Although sexual arousal feels pleasurable, to stay in that state for excessive periods of time must put severe stress on the body. Things like circulation and heartbeat and fight or flight mechanisms must definitely go through abnormal states.

>Ive read in various places that orgasming releases the hormone prolactin into the blood stream. And ive also read many accounts of people claiming that excess prolactin is detremental towards healthy hair.

>Orgasming spikes DHT levels which we all know is bad for male pattern baldness.

>The pleasure we feel during arousal must be due to raised dopamine levels. All the hormones in our bodies balance themselves against each other. Excessive masturbation can keep our hormones at abnormal levels. We know that DHT is bad for hair but think of the sh*t that we dont know that might be bad for hair E.g. estrogen.
From my own experience, masturbating and orgasming a lot leaves my scalp much greasier then when i go through periods of abstinence. Is this due to raised T levels. Is excess scalp Testosterone levels bad for hair? I certainly believe it to be.

Now i believe all of this to be highly significant towards the rate of male pattern baldness, just through observations of my own body, but why oh why are the so called smart people so quick to dismiss it as even relevant? The truth is out there.

Who is going to spend thousands and thousands on research for something that would never reap any financial benefits.

If excess masturbation really was found to be the problem for some of us(I believe there to be many forms of male pattern baldness), then the cure would be simple and carry very very very little cost.

Just cut down or stop. (Im not religious btw)

Because you offer no scientific proof? Anecdotal evidence doesn't count (and you don't even have that).

Besides it has been proven that Testosterone increases as you don't masturbate, and DHT levels are correlated to testosterone levels.

I don't really think the little fluctuations of testosterone levels that have been documented with masturbation habits, green tea drinking or exercise are notable. Fluctuation or no fluctuation, you are still going to bald at the same speed.

Using steroids or cutting your balls sure will have an effect on your baldness. If you masturbate or no has no real repercussions

Ok, I couldn't help myself from doing this.

Could you post some of them? You have the exact ratio of ejaculation they have?

>Think about it. Ejaculation releases semen which contains key minerals that are also required for healthy hair. The body must go through so much strain in order to replenish these fluids everytime you orgasm, and also depriving your hair of these goodies.
What are the key minerals required for healthy hair?
Can you tell me the percentages of these key minerals that are lost during masturbation?
If I use them as supplements will my crown and temples fill up again?
Inside the sexual organs, do these key minerals are available to hair?

>Although sexual arousal feels pleasurable, to stay in that state for excessive periods of time must put severe stress on the body. Things like circulation and heartbeat and fight or flight mechanisms must definitely go through abnormal states.
How much is "excessive periods of time"?

What is "abnormal levels"? Are hormones at "abnormal levels" after masturbation?
How long do these "abnormal levels" last after masturbation?

Mate! Im pointing out the overall effects, anecdotal albeit. Science and the truth isnt all about numbers and figures. Even the greatest of innovators had to hypothesise before they conducted tests to proove or disproove a theory. The fact is you dont have any scientific data to disproove this idea either.

Shame something like this will never get tested coz theres no money in it.

I can think of Zinc off the top of my head. Im sure you could counteract the zinc loss through excessive ejaculation by taking a supplement, but this is just one part of it.

Orgasming once or twice a week could be considered healthy. 5 times a day perhaps not so healthy and excessive....(even i dont go that far) but it is ok to use common sense you knob.

Someone that orgasms consistently once or twice a week probably has hormonal levels in check in a certain way. Someone that does so 5 times a day would have a different hormonal balance and then have different measures taken by the body to normalise things. Everyone has the free will to do it as often as they like....but if you use common sense in the example you might be able to see what would be considered normal and what would be considered abnormal.

Dont try to make out youre smarter than you are coz you sound like a narrow minded dumbass. I have no proof but i am stating a possible cause for hairloss in certain people. Im not alone either and the way i see it....you dont get smoke without fire!

I'm not narrow minded.
It's just that your hypothesis reeks to chemophobia and the appeal to nature fallacy that plagues this forum. Besides, your theory is way too general and use so many ambiguous definitions.
The common sense part about masturbation really does sound like something a religious nut would say.

Since vague anecdotal evidence seems to be the order of the day here, I'll bite...

How come I was as bald as a coot while still in my 20's and I hardly ever used to even "touch myself", never mind masturbation? Sure, I had a sex life but I doubt it could be classed as excessive.

Oh, then was my father who retired early and moved to Thailand. He loved the ladies and lived a life of excess by almost any standards; he was well known to have several companions a night (often several at once) smoked 60 a day, drank like a fish and had a diet that made Elvis look like a health food addict. He had a full head of hair until the day he died (at 65).

The most interesting part of this thread is the fact that an obvious (and obnoxious) troll like BalanceGuardian has managed to get so many replies. I especially enjoy how he has to resort to insults each time his "evidence" is questioned.

A lot of the frequent posters on this board seem very intent on dealing only in absolutes. Apparently, if it's hair loss it must: Be male pattern baldness, be a result of sensitivity to DHT, only treatable by pharmaceuticals, only affected by things that greatly vary DHT levels, be exactly the same for everyone, if it's not affected by one sort of drug for one person then it must not work for anyone else.

Hugh hefner doesn't have the entire variety of human genetic coding for hair/ hair loss in his cells. Who gives a sh*t what his life practices do to his hair?

at the risk of gettin abuse.... it is interesting this post. finasteride and other anti-androgens lower sex drive so less wanking/shagging which could contribute to hair growth/thickening?
