Opinions On My Possible Recession? Age 20

I have become a bit obsessive over the past few months regarding possible hair thinning / receding. I feel like I've always had a pretty unflattering hairline, however I am not sure if it's always been to this extent . However, I do know for certain that I've always had a widows peak, although I am not sure that the hairline of my temples was always so ill-defined. Because I used to have very long hair in middle school and then began wearing a buzz cut fade for most of high school, I didn't really notice this until I grew the top of my hair out the past year or two. I want to say that my hair always has felt very fine, although contrary to that a hairstylist recently said I had thick hair (this was at Great Clips, not an professional salon, so she might be incorrect). Recently since I started using pomade and fiber to style my hair I have noticed around 3-5 longer strands come out in my hands as I washed my hair, which I wonder if this could be caused by the stickiness of the products making the hairs stick to my hands and making it more noticeable then before.

Anyway, I have attached a current picture of myself as well as a very young picture of me to compare and gather opinions. However, I do realize that in the younger picture, my hair was indeed combed a bit forward so the true hairline (especially around the temples) is a bit concealed, while the new picture my true hairline is one hundred percent exposed. Despite this slight change in hairstyles, judging from the pictures, would you say my hair receding or thinning?

@KO21 I have no idea why you'd think I am trolling, hair loss has been a constant concern of mine for months now, as I've said, and I finally decided to ask for advice and opinions after weeks of lurking through forums like these.

@Agustin Araujo

Ok, thank you for the answer. However, I must follow up by asking: then do I just simply have a bad hairline / large forehead? Surely that space between the top of my eyebrows and the hairline is not proportional with the rest of my head / face.

You have a perfect frame altogether, a Norwood 1 hairline with a symmetrical forehead, nothing is out of proportion.

Now I feel as if YOU are trolling. I just don't see that normalcy at all when I look at my hairline compared to other people my age with hairlines I consider normal.

I also forgot to include some background on my genetics in my original post; I am of Icelandic and Italian descent, my father is 67 and seems to show some slight recession at the temples but otherwise has a full head of hair, my sister at age 26 also has a very high hairline, higher than mine in fact, and my mother who is 66 has somewhat thinning hair which she believes is male pattern baldness. Her hairline is perfect without recession, in my opinion, however her entire head of hair is thinner than it used to be 5 years ago and the back of the head (crown?) is where it's most noticeable; when she gets up from bed without combing it you can see the scalp.

I don't know if that adds or changes anything in your opinion but I figured it's worth mentioning since heredity is important with hair loss.

I am not trolling.

You can always make an appointment with specialist such as a hair transplant doctor and have them check your hair if you're that concerned.

Thank you for your surprising responses. From them I feel a bit relieved but also worried that perhaps the reason I seem to be the only one noticing a receding / far back hairline is perhaps because only I know how it used to look, and you three are formulating your opinions based off of one current picture...

Regardless, I will likely heed Agustin's advice... I have been putting off making an appointment for this issue because I fear the responses I will receive from the doctor. Hair is the one aspect of my appearance I feel I have at least some control over, thus if it is confirmed that I am indeed beginning to lose my hair I would be devastated. I suppose the sooner I find out the better though, so I could start treatment.

All you need to do is make photos in high quality every month and check them. This way you will be sure, that everything is fine, and if not you know what to do :)
