The DermaPen..or one of the other cheaper ones I mentioned in the other forum

Info on the DermaPen: http://dermapen.com/demo/

I think that the roller would be a better go if you do the job.. You will be missing spot on your cranium with that pen.. 1.5 mm is the best meat tenderizer size .. lol

Go deep and bleed or go home! We need to traumatize the skin to get results. this guy gets it! Listen carefully to him.. friggin 4 passes is weak and useless :

I would like to see a study with derma roller alone. From what I know, the derma roller is used with many products to enhance the absorbtion and it could be the reason why the group with both minoxidil and roller have better results.

That saying, I just bought myself a derma roller to get better results. I found out that there is a lot of bad cheap derma roller on the web. I think I found one just fine.

You don't need a $200.00 roller to get results.. a derma roller is pretty straight forward.. some with softer wheels material should be better for the contour of your pumpkin..but everything else..oh well.. you skin doesn't care if you get poked by a $200.00 or $35.00 one. All you need is a good one with a case to put it away. Clean it as often as possible with rubbing alcohol.

Gonna join you people in a few months when I get back. Gonna finish my med for the dandruff and then we shall see. At that time I will see what only minoxidil did for my head.

The pens have 12 needles though- 12 per punch. If you watch some of the vids on it it won't take long at all to cover everything. And this would just be once a week or whatever they say. Plus it's adjustable so I can also use it at .5mm, etc..for use with topicals or other parts of my face or body. I've used dermarollers enough...need to try something new.

The current dermaroller I have is that vibrating one. Now THAT you should really use if you want a meat tenderizer :woot:

BTW..the Dermajet was the one I was originally interested in, but when they increased the price and never responded to me as to why..I started looking around. There are other versions that cost much less.

One of the cheaper ones: http://www.amazon.com/Highwinwin-Mi...=UTF8&qid=1370532478&sr=8-8&keywords=dermapen ..a bit cheaper at Ebay even.

This one isn't available yet: http://www.skinpen.com/

I saw on amazon dermarollers with 2mm and even 3mm needles. That's longer than the 1.5mm of the study. Any idea of what the optimum size could be for our purpose ?

Bros, I bleed easy with 1.5mm . 3mm on temple would be overkill. outch! I am using this one right now.. http://www.amazon.com/Rejuveness-Co...&qid=1375846441&sr=8-15&keywords=derma+roller

Forget the DermaJet one for now:

We will not sell this device any more because we were getting too many complaints of malfunctioning devices. We still have plenty of stock, so existing customers will get free replacements for 1 year after purchase in case of failure. Replacement devices are also guaranteed for an additional 1 year. We also have sufficient needle cartridges in stock to support existing customers.

Could be why they're not responding to my emails on it..but still, what a way to run a company.
It does look kind of "cheap"...compared to the others.

Hey, i have an important question: if you do dermarolling in areas where you still have hair, isn't it possible it may hurt the good follicles??
How deep are the follicles in the skin?

@dreamermerlin

This is also something I've been considering. That may be an additional argument for using smaller sized needles. Maybe smaller than the 1.5 of the study? I guess no one can answer that though.

I found this graphics. 1.5mm seems to touch the hair follicles... maybe damaging follicles is needed to force their restoration.

The guy from *********talk pretty me convinced me.. 2 month results.

That picture was taken after just one month of dermarolling, but after three months of minoxidil. No way to tell if the regrowth comes from the dermaroller or the minoxidil. Also, squeegee, could you see my question in the post numbre 16 of this thread, my account just got approved.

But man, that is exactly what we want. We have to damage the follicles so during the restoration process the growth factors get promoted. You may hurt your good follicles too, but if hurting the Androgenetic Alopecia affected follicles is good for them, I don't think hurting the non-Androgenetic Alopecia affected follciles would do any harm. In fact, in the study it says that dermarolling the hair non affected by Androgenetic Alopecia make the healthy hair grow even faster.

I'm not convinced by this need to hurt follicles themselves. Wounding the region of the follicles could hypothetically induce growth as well. Maybe.

Ganon! Miconazole Nitrate is really good for hair growth in general..Complete package with minoxidil 5%. Miconazole Nitrate inhibit the p450 enzymes which are over expressed in Androgenic Alopecia. Try to find a 4% one and mix it with minoxidil.

LOL hurting the follicles with a Derma roller. Common. By going aggressive, you are rushing the blood and progenitor stem cell to your pumpkin so new capillaries can be born among new collagen, epidermis and hair. If you damage some good hair in the process, big deal they will just grow back stronger. So every 7 days or so you just roll it everywhere until it gets red..you will be bleeding as well. I don't use the derma roller to get a better absorption of minoxidil, I use it to trick my body to heal itself and create a better and healthier environment for new hair. Just like I destroy my muscles fiber at the gym every time I go and they grow bigger and stronger. you get the idea?

you get the idea?

Of course I do. What I'm saying is that attacking the follicle itsef is not what the process is about, and ultimately the best tool would be one that touches the region of the hair factory and not the factory itself; in other words maybe the 0.5mm dermaroller (used by the guy of which you posted pictures) could ultimately be a better growth tool than the 1.5mm used in the recent study. Just a hypothesis.

This being said I've just bought a 1.5mm. ;)

Please, please do photo documentation of your progress. Maybe even in a separate thread. This is very interesting and will answer the question whether Androgenetic Alopecia actually is reversible. I guess this question is very important to many of us around here.

It would be interesting if someone tried dermarolling alone with no other treatment. Anyone that's neither on Finasteride or minoxidil? Benjt?
